I used to drive an 997 GT3 GENII as my daily driver (Did 20.000 miles a year) and for winter use in Scandinavia, I run Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero Serie II 235/35 R19 91V XL front & 295/30 R19 100V XL rear with 8.5"x19" GT3 front and 11”x19" rear. ET front were 53 and rear 67.

They were amazing in snow and on ice. Much better than the MPSC+ I used from april to october

Maybe you could get the same size on your 991 GT3? Could be worth a call to your local Porsche dealer ;-)

991 GT3 Winters

Thanks for your reply. I decided to go with Michelin Alpin 4's mounted on the only 20" centre lock available which is the 991 Turbo S spyder wheels. Since the stock GT3 wheel is 12" wide the winter tires would be stretched too far beyond recommended width. I went with the Michelins after seeing a comparison test in which they were vastly superior to competitors. To date I'm really impressed after 500kms. Too bad the set up costs as much as a small car! Hopefully, I will keep my GT3 for a looooong time. It is such a versatile car and a real hoot to drive. Cant wait to get beyond break in mileage!

My old 997.2 GT3 also had 12"x19" at the rear but I found out, that Porsche once made a 11"x19" GT3 rim with centre lock to - So it is possible :-)

But cool you found a way to use your GT3 at winter times - I'm currently waiting for my 991 GT3 to :-)

I'm excited for you that you are getting a 991 GT3. This car is so good I'm selling my 2013 S8 which was to be my winter driver driver. I just dont want to drive anything else, ever day. Wife has an SUV is needed. This is my 8th 911 and it is by far my favourite. It is so tactile, the engine sound is amazing but the transmission and chassis are what make it extra special. I'm glad I went for the axle lifting suspension because it sits very low. If you haven't seen the car and only seen pictures, you will be pleased because the pictures don't show the aggressiveness of the design. It looks TOUGH!!!

( I used to have a tire shop)

Wise choice, The Michelins are far superior. I used Pirelli's ( all I could get in the proper size at the time) on our XJL S/C for 2 years and gave up trying to drive it in the winter, just changed to Michelins, remarkably better.
