You buy a track car for speed and performance... NOT an experience, Im so glad they dumped the manual. The Manual z06 is about .3 sec slower. Also there was 2 z06s that crashed at highway speeds due to power oversteer.

I am not as smart about this heatsoak issue as you guys but was at a track event in my GT2 along with many of the cars you listed here of having heatsoak issues. We were at a track in the desert near Palm Springs called Chuckwalla, it was 95F that day, so very hot. My car did not feel as fast as it would be at say 70F but that was fine by me, cause it was easier to control and I could drive it faster. We all had 30 minute run times and had 6 sessions that day. There were ZR1's, GTR, and a lot of other cars. None of them had this reported heatsoak issue.

When I was at a Lambroghini 1 day track driving event, again in similar temps, the cars were all fine except the Avendator. The three Aventadors all had to take turns, sitting out to cool down. It was an impressive car for about 150k, but to pay 500k for one is .
Of course the best lambo's were the newest level Superlaggeras, which I think they called the supertrofeo's or something like that. But compared to a ferrari, they do not impress.

I have also been to Exotics Racing in Vegas a few times along with friends. These cars are being driven hard all day long in the desert of Vegas. None of them from what I saw had to sit out for heatsoak except for the Aventador again.

I live in Vegas and its only 20 degrees hotter here which isnt that much compared and I didnt know they had a c7 z06 over the summer... when its actually 100+

I'm at a 5000' foot elevation with summer track temps well in excess of 100F. Every Corvette including Z06s and ZR1s that was driven had had overheating issues 15 minutes into a 30minute session. This goes for the regular C7 versions also. I suspect the C7 ZO6 will continue with that tradition based on the current magazine write-ups. I've never ever had to cut a 30 minute session short or dial back the intensity due to heat issues. All cars will heat soak to a certain extent with with good ICs it not really an issue for the Mezger cars. Caymen and Boxsters yes, but a GT2/3/TT no.

I have a feeling the C7 ZO6 will have magazine bragging rights but real world results will be much less stellar.

yes the z06 looks good but, whats the point of 650 horses id you cant use it.

The performance stats under discussion here, published in January issue of Car and Driver, are from 8-speed automatic, not from stick shift car. The data from manual transmission car were uncharacteristically unimpressive.

GT Daytona: Porsche 343; BMW: 340; Ferrari: 337; Audi: 329; SRT (Viper): 320

After reading this post I would like to say that the best track cars are built and so being a builder I would point you to a Superlite Coupe and put the parts you need to get the car of your track day dreams! Cost will be about the same but your track times are priceless!

Why have just one?

Just traded my NASA Unlimited Switzer P800 GTR, which was insanely fast and agile... engine, Transmission, suspension changes... over 700 AWDHP dyno

now have 2 stock 2015's that present completely different track experiences, both amazing

GT3
Z06

Neither as fast as the track prepped GTR, both fun in their own way, leaning toward the GT3 (Always was a Porsche guy... 9th Porsche in 30 years), but get more smiles for the Z06.

First corvette ever was a 2014 Stingray... thought enough of it to go for the Z06.

now need some seat time in both.

great combo!
i went from 997 gt3 (that i never loved) to stock 13 gtr and 06 lotus elise
drove rented stingray on track miami last month and loved it so can imagine how much better z will be
enjoy
