Picked up my GT3: break in period
#17
My dealer has worked for Porsche, and raced Porsches, for over 30 years and he said you can take the 991 GT3 off the truck and go right to the track and not worry a bit. The engines are run-in before delivery. He did suggest I break in my Targa 4S, but as for the GT3...let 'er rip!

I picked mine up Sat (will post pics when I get a sunny day).
I drove it to 7k rpm once and 6k regularly while shifting thru gears as to keep the rpms all over the spectrum. I plan driving it like I normally would for the first 500 miles (probably less than 7k rpms) and then open her up fully.
Dealer told me no break-in either.
ps. I have never heard of anyone having trouble with any modern car due to getting the rpms up to redline early.

You plan on keeping yours for 200-300k miles?

Just to be repetitive, my dealer told me to put 100 to 200 miles on it and then drive it hard. Never heard this from any Porsche dealer in the past, but there seems to be some consensus from many different dealers as reported on this forum. It's your car, break it in the way you see fit.
