First impressions of a new 991 GT3 owner
Just replaced '12 991S with '14 GT3, 2900 miles, Porsche buy back @ 1800 miles for new motor and an extra year of warranty. Got it a few weeks ago and had it shipped to Musante Mortorsports for install of 1 piece seats, rear cage and harnesses for track duty. Didn't expect this spring in winter weather so awaiting the final parts decided to grab it for a few days.
I was absolutely surprised by the street manners of the car. If anything it seemed less harsh on our wonderful snow belt roads than the S. I have never driven a car that rushed for 7th gear so quickly no drama and smooth as silk. The transmission is clearly a different beast than the base cars. It feels like it has a built in stall speed and it was most noticeable in R when it required a little throttle to get moving and on slight inclines at red lights where it would rolled back if my foot came off the brake. Im assuming this is normal and the way it is built but if not I'd like to hear from other owners. Hit the magic buttons and it was transformed with awe inspiring up and down shifts holding on to the upper rev ranges.
A few odd and relatively minor foot notes. I was sitting in the car last night in my garage re-reading the owners manual and I realize the car has absolutely no interior lights other than the 2 small manually switched lights on either side of the mirror. A friend joked that this must be to save weight! Also, I am trying to pair my iPhone to the car and it displays a function not available. Only a problem because, although I live in MA, I spend time in CT which is a hands free only state. I am able to hook the ph through the usb connection in the glove box or bluetooth to play music and get my ever important WAZE messages. I got a call in the car this morning and the ring tone came through the speakers and the radio went silent but I could only answer through the phone. Is there a phone module required and can it be retro-fitted as I can't get to a menu to link the phone?
On the way back to Mussante's this AM I remembered about the paddle neutral feature and though it doesn't serve any purpose I can identify other than getting to a new set of rear tires quicker it is certainly cool. Maybe it's telling me I need to take it to the drag strip at least once. The install of the track stuff should be done in early January when in all likelihood weather norms will prevail and it will go into hibernation until spring at which point I'll get to apply my limited ability to playing with the car in its natural habitat. I'll post some pics of interior when done. Is it spring yet?

Great! You can put the cover on and then "unwrap" it Christmas morning.

Congrats.
The transmission is acting normal. It has zero creep like the regular PDK. So at a stop it will not move until you press the accelerator and on an incline it will roll.
On the BT, you may not have that option. It required selection of the "phone prep" option to get BT. Many were not aware of this and did not select it leaving you unable to connect their phones. Check your option list.

I see this BT issue on my Cayenne GTS. Do you have an iPhone?
For whatever reason the phone defaults to its handset speaker/mic once I answer a call. But, I can manually select PCM from the call menu on the phone after I answer a call.
Its a bit of a work around and not entirely handsfree, but gets the job done. Ive had this issue appear inconsistently on different marques, so it may be an iPhone issue and not a Porsche issue.
