sticky is infamous around these parts
What is so great about having a little more boost for 10 seconds? Kind of seems lame, maybe with a chip the added boost can be permanent.

Do they mean for the first 10 seconds you get on the gas? That would put you at near 125mph I am guessing. I also wonder how this will work on the track. Will I be able to boost hard for every straight or just 10 seconds from the first time I accelerate hard? I am so confused about this 10 sec boost thing.

The article said it was 10 seconds faster than the 997 around the ring about 7:50

996 turbo ring time was 7.56 wasn't it? I think the 997 turbo will do better than 7.50...

The biggest surprise for me was that it was going to weight about 90+lbs less. Awesome.

Extended periods of high boost will create a lot of heat resulting in detonation and thus engine damage. Looks like they figured out how to give short bursts of high boost safely. This IS a big deal. Free extra power, although brief, is still extra power. And really, 10 seconds isn't brief if you are standing on the throttle.

With 473 bhp and at 3,400 lbs, this car will still sit below a 996 GT2 in terms of overall performance. Porsche needed a 500 bhp 3200 lbs 997 TT to compete with some of the cars on the road today (F430, C6 Z06, Gallaro SE)

Impressive in general, but unfortunately, I don't think it will stack up evenly to the mentioned cars above. jmo

My '01 is 3395lbs, so it isn't "less", much less 90lbs less, than the early gen 996TTs.

I say lose the turbos and pop a V8 or V10 in there. There's just too many band-aids to make the turbo work like a non-turbo car.
