Detailing question
I'm old school and use my Cali Water Blade. I haven't seen any swirls/lines on either my white or black car.
It's hard to use efficiently at first, but you quickly get the hang of it. Then I go back around with a cotton towel to get the contours more closely.

Thank you for the kind words Joe. If you guys ever want examples of our work please visit our site. The address is located in my personal info area. As for the leaf blower technique, I will go to home depot this weekend and purchase one. The idea seems like a good one. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Any suggestions on model and brand to purchase?
Moe,
I think you will like the leaf blower idea. My only experience is with the Toro and it works great. 2 year warranty and a great reputation. Mine is electric and uses a cord. Has over 300 km blowing force and priced very reasonable.
Continued success !

Moe, these are my quick thoughts about a leaf blower and why I don't personally use one. They are great though, I just don't think they are for you and me. Leaf blowers don't have filters, so what ever it sucks up, comes out, this includes dust particles, pieces of dirt etc. You then are taking what it sucks up and pushing it directly at the car and moving it at 200 mph across the paint. Just some food for thought, I may give it another try now that I no longer have a black car though.
Do you guys know of any blowers that may have a filter? My concern right now is when I hire detailing techs, (which I'm in dire need of, so if anyone knows a good detailer that isn't being treated right please give him/her my contact info), I don't feel comfortable allowing him/her to drive clients' cars. Right now my routine includes taking the car for a DryRun to get the water out and also to diagnose anything out of the ordinary when driving. Since I drive all types of these Porsches daily, I know what they should feel like and can tell my client if anything is wrong. So, with that said, I have to think of alternative ways of drying the car without driving it. Scott, I'm going to research this and see if there's anything out there that has a filter or maybe I can come up with a technique to reduce the dust coming at the car.

How much you paying an hour Mo

I've seen a blower that was advertised towards motorcyle owners for drying their bikes. I think it may of had a filter but I can't seem to find info on it. What were your thoughts on the blower, did you end up getting one? I assume by your last comment your concerns were the same as mine.
I use a Toro electric leaf blower and make sure no dirt or dust gets near the intake. I blast my hand with the air stream before using it on my car and I've never felt anything but air.
I used an orbital on the car last year and have been using the leaf blower to dry it ever since. 10 months, 13000 miles, and my paint is still immaculate.
