Price of GT3 RS2007 vs 2011 Vs 2016
I am going to buy one!
just started search and with budget of 150-160k. Why are 2007 and 2011 close to same price as 2016? I reviewed the specs of each car so I am up to speed on motor-options and colors.
Which one should I buy? Is 2007 more of a collector mentality? I will drive the car, not tons as I am fortunate to have a few things in the garage. No track day aspirations, I wanna be comfortable putting miles on car and not overly concerned I am loosing resale value when its out in the element.

I am in the same market and I think it is because the earlier cars had engines from Porsche Motorsports vs the 16 was a modified version of the regular engine. This is all I can think of.

No one can tell which car is more "collectible", rather one can only guess. Nevertheless, the thing which is 99% sure, the 2016 (991.1) is FAR from any element of being "collectible" (they made about 5000 of them). BUT, considering the fact you would like to put some miles on it and don't lose a lot of value (probably), the 2016 (991.1) is definitely the one to go for! it's modern, safe, reliable and in today's prices a very good deal! (twice as good when considering the prices of this car just 1-2 years ago).
Don't forget to update and send some pics.

yes, something like that. crazy number.. And "GT Guys" still fantasies the (or shall we say their) GT3RS/GT3 is being handful and separately built by specially picked senior professionals, not to be catch up with a disease from a "regular" "mass" produced 911. when reality is the GT3RS is one of Porsche most mass produced cars in the line up (for the 991 model).

I was surprised that they made way less GTS (Especially the Targa) than any of the GT3 models. Even that it may not appreciate in value, I think the GT cars will still see slower depreciation than other sports cars like Aston Martin, Mclaren, Maserati, and Lambo. Ferrari holds the value pretty well, too.

I had a 991.2 turbo and got a kick out of it when I realized it was probably more rare than the 991.2 turbo S, GT3, and GT3 RS.
On the GT3RS cars, the 997.1 is the last Mezger engined version, and the 997.2 is the last manual GT3 RS. While the 991 is newer and faster, production was much higher and many find it to be a less visceral car than the 997 and earlier cars. Better as a daily though.

Yes, for the 991.2 Porsche tried to keep production in line with orders, i guess the 991.1 was right in the era of "GT3 is Cool turbo is boring" mega bubble (which already gone) so they had enough seeing the pile of stock left. Because more people see the S as a better package, most ordered the S. Anyhow, the 991.1 era bubble definitely did good for the 991.2 turbo/S owners which benefit from much lower production numbers.
