GT3/GT4 owners: How livable are the cars?
Lease on my 2015 Cayman S will be coming to an end in March, and a GT4 or 997.2 GT3 are high on my list. My only fear is that the car would be so harsh as to be unenjoyable to drive. We have lots of steep driveways and drainage dips where I live in Santa Monica, and I don't feel like stressing about the car every time I take it out. Can I get some thoughts from owners of GT cars who've driven them in the real world?shareit appvn

It mostly depends if this is going to be your daily driver and how tolerant you are to a performance suspension set up?
Can't speak for others, personally have other vehicles to drive so, RS only gets taken out when I know the route and conditions (driveways, underground garages, etc).

Personally I wouldn't drive a RS as a daily driver Its loud its rough and meant for a track. On the Track its fantastic on the street there are people that do it but why?
My 2 cents are a person that buys a 200K car should be able to own several cars and not need to depend on a Track car as a DD.

My GT3 Touring has the 18 ways so I too get the comfort AND rawness...but I also have a 2017 PDK Turbo (also with 18 ways). Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't as the saying goes....

I think they are fine to drive often. Get one with FAL for sure. I haven’t scrapped on anything in Bay Area with the front lifted and the right angle. I have Carbon buckets and not so sure those are the right seats for a daily driver. Not the easiest things to get in and out of and they aren’t adjustable. Worth buying with Carbon buckets tho (higher spec’d option) and replacing seats and storing the CBs to reinstall later if ever sell the car. That being said...I’m glad I got CB’s because I don’t drive it every day and love feeling like I’m in a race car each time I get in.
I can't speak for Santa Monica streets but I daily drive my 997.2 w/carbon buckets and would offer the following;
1) I swapped out the stock PASM computer for a programmable DSC version. Then I installed a street/track version of the software after trying several off their download site. The results are nothing short of amazing. It is easily livable for daily driving but at the press of a button it switches maps and is perfectly trackable! Nothing short of amazing transformation! The car is perfectly comfortable for true GT driving on public roads now. I've made several round trips from Houston to the west coast in perfect GT comfort.
2) I had my local shop "lift" the suspension. The car came from an avid fan of tracking and was VERY low (think splitter only 1/2 way up a beer can). We adjusted the coil overs ride height so it now rests the splitter on the top of a beer can. In the process we also corner balanced the car with the appropriate amount of weight in the driver seat. This gets me in and out of most public driveways without issue while actually improving the track handling!
3) I replaced the factory splitter with the Cup car urethane version. These come in 3 packs. In the event of damage I roll one out in the summer sun and let it soften up for an hour. Then it just slides into the groove on the front fascia, two screws to lock it in place and you are done! I'm currently on the second one having dinged up the first one on road debris at high speed somewhere in the high desert between Phoenix & Palm Springs. Even when it drags over a drive way entry it is a non issue!

I don't see the 3 packs any more at suncoastparts.com.. The single item part number is tel:997.505.557.92]997.505.557.92.
Someone recently recommended these guys as well, they are less expensive but there may be some wait time involved then there is also shipping costs to consider.

It just depends on how the car it spec’d . I find the manual in LA traffic to be a pita and the buckets suck for daily use. But with the right seats and trans they are a amazing daily’s. They are fundamentally street cars with some track parts.
