FVD vs Kline exhaust 996 GT3

Hey guys….996 GT3…...deciding between the two systems…would love your thoughts for those of you owning or who have heard either or both.

FVD ….Xpipe 200 cell cats….headers
Kline….Inconel Xpipe 200 cell cats…..headers

may start out with just an Xpipe with stock headers and Fister mufflers.

Thoughts?

I have the full FVD, also know as Brombacher, also know as M&M system on my 997 GT3. I also has a EVoms tune and the car screams. I assume I've gained at least 30hp from this modification. Also, this forum is dead for 996 and 997 GT cars. you have to venture on over the Rennlist to get the deets.

looks great! Is that a valved setup? So hows the overall sound? Any droning? Tone much better than stock?

No valves, sound was traditional flat 6 sound but in a deeper tone. It screamed but wasn't as loud as stock side mufflers with a center delete. One the course of my several GT3 cars, I've run:

1. Bone stock
2. Stock headers and RSS center delete - this setup beats the Sharkwerks out of the water.
3. Stock headers and Sharkwerks center delete - sounds good but begins to lose the scream up top. The RSS keeps getting crazier and if I had to do a center delete, it would be the RSShands down. Both of the center deletes drone a wee bit but it's not something that will bother you.
4. Full FVD, Brombacher, M&M set up. Long tube headers and 200 cell cats. this system in its factory form gives you a flat 6 sound, something that is lost with a center delete. I know this because I removed the center delete for this system on two different cars. Love the flat 6 sound but it was just deeper in tone and not really louder. I then sent the system to Gert at Carnewal in Germany and he modified it to be quiet on the streets and a screamer in the canyons. It's crazy now and can still sound deep and like a flat 6 on the streets. It's the best of both worlds.

Short video of the Brombacher sound
Outstanding write up with great information…..thank you so much! Now I just need to apply all that info to the 996 GT3…..sad to hear RSS doesn’t do anything exhaust wise for the 6G3.

oh yea, I forgot the 996 doesn’t have that center exit. Keep in mind that unless you specify, any exhaust coming out of Europe will be naturally quiet to start as they have strict sound ordinances. When I removed my center delete and installed the Brombacher it made the car incredibly quiet. I drove with that exhaust for years and loved it. Then I wanted something louder and Gert got me sorted. Had to ship the system to Germany and wait it out.

Yeah thanks for the warning! I definitely want GT aggressive but not necessarily rally car level you know. Want something without drone too which is a must. Had that vin another car and wanted to punch a hole in the windshield after about 30 minutes of owning it.

I emailed Gert about the M&M setup. Should I ask him what he recommends? I was thinking of just going rear Xpipe setup first then maybe add headers later if needed. Was going to keep my Fister modified stock mufflers.
