At Bedford (UK), Evo lists a time for the F430 at 1:24.20 with a peak speed of 112.2 MPH, and the 997S with a time of 1:24.60 and a peak speed of 108.2. I believe the 997S had the sport suspension, which is not available in the USA.
Even though the F430 is slightly faster and cost 2X, I'd take the F430. It has unbeatable looks and lots of BLING.
p.s. the GT3 RS posted a time of 1:23.85 and a peak speed of 113.4 MPH.

Yea, porsche I heard makes approximately 18% of their revenue from licensing their technology to other companies. I do have to agree with the f430, the driving experience is much more pleasurable, but more costly.
