I have two friends with the cat bypasses. WAY TOO LOUD for me. Even at idle, tough to stand near the car. Scary loud when the loud pedal gets pushed. But to each their own.
My bad, they have muffler bypasses. Wonder if the cat bypasses are even louder?

That's one of the reasons I can't hear very well now. Two tours in 'Nam, one with a US firebase next door for 4 months. It was very nice having the heavy support, but tough on the ears.
If I can figure out how to post pics on a PM, I will.

Hey Doctor K,
I have a pair of Fabspeed cat-bypasses for sale. I had them on the car for about 1 month. Just to clarify any confusion...here is the setup:
* 2004 GT3
* Fabspeed Mufflers
* Fabspeed cat bypass pipes
The end result was VERY loud. I love loud cars, but I was having people hold their ears and got many dirty looks around town. Car sounds absolutely fantastic, but damn its loud without the cats! The car is loudest around 4,000 RPM, just becomes unbearable, but then sounds great above 6,000 again.
It was too loud for me, did not really notice any performance increase, so I took them back off.
For sale, barely used Fabspeed cat bypass pipes for GT3....make offer.

People are telling me i would get kicked off track for the muffler/cat bypass pipe's lol, but everyone loves the sound as it is intoxicating, but even on a turbo which is much quieter due tot he turbo's, its LOUDDDDD.. I cant even imagine it on the NA GT3, sounds sick in video's, 99% louder in real life, great performance gains though.

Doctor K, I thought the same thing. I retained my Fabspeed mufflers and said "How loud could it be"....its loud, really loud. I was very surprised how loud the car was even though the muffler was still on the car.
Yes NA cars are much louder than turbos because there is no interference with a little turbine in the exhaust manifold to muffle the noise.
In the end....I absolutely LOVED the noise without the cats, but I'm no longer a teenager and without the massive performance increase; I was feeling guilty about polluting the environment and making other people deaf. I hate getting old and responsible.
Steven Thompson wrote a nice article about men and their mufflers in a very recent Autoweek magazine, it made me think twice.
One more thing....I didn't get the CEL light initially, but after a few weeks it did go on. That was just a bit annoying, otherwise no harm done.
