EMF shielding issue?

I never had this issue in my Turbo, but I do in the GT2.

I get random radio frequency noise out of my speakers in the GT2, it sounds like what happens to computer speakers when you have your cellphone right next to it and a call came in.

Is it because of the less shielding and what have you in the GT2? It does it on my Nextel and my Cingular phones.

This never happened with the Turbo.

I get this in my C2. GSM phones cause this and it's especially loud with my blackberry where large packets of data is transmitted.

I never put the phone in the cubby under the radio for this reason. Usually leaving it in my pants is ok.

Not sure why your TT doesn't cause this issue though. I get this issue with my MB as well.

I get it with the C4S. It seems like it's proximity to the head unit that causes the problem.

Yep, me too. I had Nextel and it drove me nuts until I figured out it was the phone. When I put it in the door pocket it wasn't too bad.

I am going in tomorrow and will see if they will give me another head unit. I know for a fact that this did not happen with my Turbo head unit, and some guy on rennlist was saying that different versions of the head unit has different suspceptability to EMF interference.

It doesn't do it with the TT because it is all fiber optic. The GT2 uses the old wired stereo from the 00, 01 996, so the cell phone will bleed through.

had it on my GT3 change the unit to an Alpine unit and all good know. Also the problem gets worst if you have a metalic type film on your tint for the windows

Stuka,

I also have the same problem. I have cingular and it never had interference in my turbo, but now I got a GT2 about 2 weeks ago and noticed I can't keep the phone in the pocket under radio. So I put in the ash tray and no noise.
Please let me know if dealer responds to this issue.

Thanks
Raudel

I guess fiber optic is the answer, as Larry said.

That is what I do as well, I moved it away from under the head unit and all is well.
