997 GT3 chip at H&S...440 hp
Generally speaking, non-factory chips add peak horsepower at the sacrifice of power in the lower or mid range. I would be skeptical of horsepower claims for an engine that Porsche has already "tweaked" quite a bit.
I call bull$hit on the GT3 numbers right away. Absolutely right about peak HP figures. I bet the avg. HP across the entire band is reduced. Of course if you track it and never dip below 5k rpms on any given lap then its all good
I am willing to bet that the Porsche claimed 415hp is closer to 430 when tested on a Dyno, (Porsche underrating) in that case, this "ecu upgrade" only bumps it up 10hp from there which is beleivable.
Understood, but companies that make such claims need to post 3-4 dyno sheets, then I would be a believer. If you had a product and wanted to market it right thats where I would start anyways.
I agree. Before and after dyno's are the only way to validate hp claims and make mod purchases worthwhile.
