997 Gt3 VS 997 Turbo
997 Gt3 VS 997 Turbo
Guys I am speccing out my Gt3 now that the TT is sold. My sales guy thinks I would be happier with a TT. I def think from a looks stand point the GT3 is better looking. Will I be able to appreciate the performance if I am not on the track alot? Gt3's will def be more rare and having owned two 996 tt's and the last one for almost 5 years I think the Gt3 would be a nice change. I owned a 996 Gt3 very briefly but really did not get a chance to enjoy. Thoughts and feedback appreciated. I need to decide asap as whatever I decide will be April production.
Who cares? The decision has almost zero risk, since, if you don't like it, you'll prolly be able to sell in a nano-second at list and pick up a TT.
I'm really drawn to the GT3, that would be my choice for sure.

The GT3's in its element on the track. That is were there actually is a noticable performance advantage over the TT. The TT shines as the best "all round" car. And certainly is the better of the two cars in a street situation.
If tracking is not you thing I dont understand why you would down grade streetablity just to say you have a GT3? Just my 2 cents. I think on the street if you drive both as a daily driver you would choose the TT hands down.
But a great choice to have and I agree you really cant go wrong!

Duane, I too echo the sentiment that for daily or recreational driving the TT will be an all-round better fit. The GT3 is unleashed, at the track and is pretty harsh on the uneven potholed roads that we have to navigate... Regardless brother, that ultimate decision is yours and I wish you all the best in your decision. Good Luck to you.. Regards, Kenny
The GT3 looks much much better. As far as driving, well the 997 GT3 is supposed to be a lot more user friendly and civilized than the 996 so I think you would actually be ok with it for fairly frequent use. The TT would probably be more comfortable for a daily driver in most cases but ultimately the decision is yours depending on what aspects are most important to you.

Duane- If you're not using it as a daily driver and just take it out when you feel like it, it won't make too much of a difference between the two. While I agree that the track will be where the GT3 shines, it's not like the TT's legs can be stretched legally on public roads much anyway.
Besides, your former car had coilovers and 19" wheels, along with a rollbar and GT3 seats...I think you'll be right at home in a GT3.

Daily driven? TT hands down. Unless your one of the few (myself included) who dont mind the louder, rougher riding cars and minimal interiors.
TT is just a fantastic daily driver with all the creature comforts one would want in such a car. But then theres that GT3 sound that cant be reproduced....amazing.

Duane, I think you'll be happier with the TT, but should buy the GT3...here's why: if you like the GT3, fine you've got it. If you decide that you prefer the TT after you've bought the GT3, you will likely sell the GT3 for close to list (fewer cars to be produced) and then you can pick up a (depreciated) 997 TT.

Anyone buying the GT3 to be a contender at the stoplight grand prix is kidding themselves (I dont think any 997 GT3 potential owners full under this anyways) because its clear as day thats not the cars purpose. It just happens to be relatively fast 0-60 but not turbo fast.
I love the GT3, I like its purpose even though I wont be visiting tracks all the time nor are my abilities able to extract the cars potential...however I still would choose it over a TT personally. I see way to many TT's in SoCal and would prefer to have some sort of exclusivity. I used to be the guy who cared more about speed but moving on from that nowadays.
My feeling is Porsche has gotten too soft with its cars, the GT3 is a bit back to what made Porsche great to begin with, quick, light cars that are fun to drive and sound amazing.

They are totally two diffedrent cars in my opinion. The tt is awesome. Although I have not driven the new one but i hear its better. On the other hand the gt3 just feels that much better. It feels like a race car for the street. A go kart. I feel if you by a sports car you should get the best performing one you can get. If you just want a fast car to go from stop light to stop light, then dont rule out the sl55 or other AMG's which are extremely fast cars too. I feel the GT3 is one an entirely different level. The feel is like I have never experienced in a street car. This is based on the 996 gt3's i have driven. just my opinion
