Some history on the roads
Am I missing something? it just seems to be a standard 914 maybe an early 2.0, doesn't even look to be a 914-6 since it has the 4 bolt Fuchs and not the 5 lug Fuchs that are standard on the 914-6. Regardless, the 914 is a nice platform, and when modded and done right, can outrun even many of today's big guns. MANY MANY MANY autocross TTOD (top time of day) are laid down in them, the routinely crush cars like GT3's, 996TT's etc on very tite autocross tracks. Very nimble little cars and if I had more money than I knew what to do with, I might try to go about getting one of the very few 916's or 914-8's that were produced, but to get one of those two cars, you'd have to have crazy money to obtain one of those and you'd probably have to commit to keeping it under glass at a museum at Zuffenhausen or something.
I just wanted to clarify, when I said 914-8, I didn't mean a chevy transplant, I'm talking about the one's that were produced by the factory. Only a couple that I know of, one was for Ferdinand and given to him as a birthday present by the factory. Another one I believe was built for Ferdinand Pieche. Here's some interesting info on it
