I do agree however, that damaging them in off-track excursions is a possibility, but small, and if you expect to be doing that you should be running spec miatas - not GT3 STREET cars...

Half that for race only...

Like I said, it's more the unexpected on the track. I've hit oil, dodged falling mufflers, not to mention the occassional coming in "to hot" into a turn where I have ended up in the gravel on track (so its not as small a possibility as you may think). After coming off i had pebbles in the calipers and rotors. Not willing to suck up another 5-10k to fix it, where with steels, either no issue or only a couple hundred $$...and at my level (DEs only) to see a marginial increase(decrease
) in speed. I can see if your club racing and want every advantage and money is no object, then definitely YES.

GT3 questions
Congratulations! Looks great. I'm finalizing my order for either a GT3 or a C4S. The car will be my daily driver in NJ + 10-12 DE's per year.
How does this GT3 compare to the 996 GT3 in terms of ride comfort? Does the car try to hunt while you're going straight? Also, in terms of options, what does the "sound plus" package get you? Is the sound from the stereo OK? How about the alacantra seats - do you sweat in them?
Thanks

I'm coming from a turbo cab, so can't give you any first hand comparison to the 996 GT3. Car appears extremely stable (but completely differnt from my turbo)... from what I heard the back end of the 996 GT3 was pretty skittish. Sound package gives you more power and speakers...but to be honest I haven't really turned it on much...listening to the engine instead...it's addicting. Don't sweat in the seats, but have noticed my hands sweat more with the alcantara wheel.
Definitely get the GT3 vs C4S if you want to have more fun on the track!
