BMC filter
BMC filter
Before I install a new BMC filter next week is it a good idea to remove as much oil as possible, or am I needlessly worrying about possible MAF problems?

sandwich the filter between sheets of newspaper with even pressure overnite. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't re-oil your own filter when it's time to be cleaned. Easy to over oil. Cheaper to buy a new one in the long run, imo.
Dr. K,
Rockitman knows his stuff and has been extremely helpfull with the tips and DIY's. I installed a K&N w/o any MAF issues.
996Turbo: Can't say if it helps however, did a dyno with and w/o a filter and found that my car made @3 less HP w/o filter installed.

I inspected the filter b/4 installation and could not detect any oil. The filter was dry to the touch. The tech doubted there would be any CEL problems, and he has installed quite a few with no returns.

gains cant even be measured on a dyno with a drop in filter. slight increase in power (if any) IMO is offset by the less filtering the thing does. change oil much more frequently if using this or similar filters. At least if you plan on a long term ownership.
