Thinking about a GT3 Mk2
Thinking about a GT3 Mk2
I've been looking to get out of my 987 Box for a while (had one a for 18 months now) and have always desired a 911.
I hope you dont mind me asking a few questions...maybe someone could advise.
I'm looking for a car which is quite raw- I have a daily driver so this would be for fun and blasts round the Highland roads and maybe 5 or 6 trackdays a year - I live close to Knockhill Circuit in the UK. A GT3 seems to offer that over a standrad 996/997.
I've driven a 997 for a week - about 700 miles of great driving. I found the car a lot of fun but not that too far removed from my Box in terms of overall performance and handling - although a completely different approach to drive was needed and the weight distribution was obviously different while the car felt more substantial. I like the 997 but would prefer something more raw!
I've looked at a 996 Turbo but I'm not sure - I'd again like something that develops my driving and is a bit more raw! A 996 C4S feels good but sanitised!
Now I'm looking at a GT3 - Mk2. I've spotted one without AirCon (not too much of a problem in Scotland) but with the Clubsport option and rear only rollcage. It's Seal with 22k miles, 2004 with PCCB.
Basically I'd like to use this on the roads in Scotland and tracks - is this car very hardcore or can you use it on the track and road!
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Car I'm looking at below and is UKĀ£47,995!
Cheers

I want raw but useable on normal roads!
Is it as crashy as a otus Exige? I could live with that just cant get in and out of it!!!
Also no air-con - is that a problem and nomex seats? No front roll cage either, just rear!

The only issue I have with my GT3 is the no rear seats issue. I knew that going in when I got the car in 2004. I had a baby last May and because of the no rear seats it limits my ability to drive car on weekends as I could fit him in baby seat on a normal 911.
Otherwise it is awesome and better than any std 911. I considered several times trading in for a 997 C2S but can't pull the trigger as I love the GT3.
Hope this helps.

I do love the look.
My only concern is biting off more than I can chew handling wise. I take it you just have to treat it with a lot more respect than a car like my 987 Box.
How about the AC though - big problem without it when reselling?

The GT3 does demand a little more respect but that is at the limit...I have pushed my car pretty hard and it is plenty planted.
I dont think the AC delete is going to be a problem on resale.

Do it! The GT3 are awesome. Just have respect for the car, it's really easy to drive, but I can bite on higher rpms, but just have respect and I will not be a problem, just fun
The comfort isn't too bad, I have no problem driving it on normal roads. DO IT!

Guy who's selling (dealer) doesn't know what exhaust it is. Pics above but looks like Porsche tailpipes to me! Would rather have the stock part but he doesnt have it!
Do the races harnesses come as standard on the gt3 clubsport?

The car is raw when at the limits. That said, it is very compliant on public streets. Not as bad as you would think. The PCCB brakes could be expensive to replace if you will use the car on track. Steel brakes are the way to go for track use.
