First Driving Imprssion of RS

Presently I am down in Florida and have driven the GT3RS about 100 miles so far. When I purchased the car I anticipated a very harsh ride and would have limited use with the car. I am hoping to track the car next time down at Sebring. I am pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the ride is. Obviously it is stiff but certainly not jarring. The handling and road feel is unbelievable. The clutch is a little stiff but certainly livable. The seats are quite comfortable and my wife who hates cars unless it's a Mercedes didn't ***** once when I took her for a ride. After seeing the tred on the tires it would not be a good idea to get caught in the rain.Considering buying extra set of wheels and tires so if I get caught in the rain I won't kill myself.Looking forward to putting some mileage on it.This is one of the best drivers cars I have ever owned . Had an 05 GT3 and that was my favorite car of all time. Let you know after more use how it compares.

I use duct tape to prevent that.

Looking forward to impression updates.

What kind of tires are you running. My GT3 has the RS LWFW and gear upgrade and is the finest driving car I have ever owned.

Keep the shiny side up!

Doctor K,

What was the install like? If you don't mind... parts, labor costs. TIA

Congrats.

The ride is harsh on the Sport setting but I really enjoy it. I've never driven a car with so much steering feedback..."it feels like it is on rails" is an understatement. The exhaust note is music.

This generation PCCB is amazing. Really amazing.

The car revs so freely. I love that feel.

Fit and finish are typical Porsche. This is what the Corvette guys just don't understand sometimes (I am not trying to get into a Z06 v P-Car debate so please don't take offense).

The Pilot Sport Cups really add to the driving enjoyment. For me, this car will never be driven on a rainy day so I will stick with the tires.

Gearbox is the best I've experienced in a production car. The car looks so much better without a sunroof, IMO.

A few things I would change? Fire extinguisher should have been an option (it is on the GT3 but not the GT3 RS). It would have been nice to have the seat and roll cage options that ROW cars have. Arling showed me the RS seats yesterday...they weigh close to 10 lbs each and can save about 100 lbs in weight (Arling, correct me if I am wrong). The seats are sick.

I can't think of anything else I would change. Best car I've ever owned.

Rob,
I apologize for having forgotten the total cost of the parts/installation but it was several thousand dollars. My indy Porsche tech used all Porsche parts and changed all the gears except 6th. That way I still have top speed potential plus can save gas (who cares)
We had to pull everything and do the install a second time due to a slight burr (rattle/grinding) on third gear.
Performance is improved as is the shifting. You will get used to the rattling sound your trans will now make.
The work was done about 6 months ago and I haven't had any problems.

Bye bye TT?

Yesterday I also had a chance to drive the RS ( musselkar's) do to a very considerate ( foolish ) friend. I had to imediately go home to drive the turbo to do a prompt comparison.
Results:
With the turbo, I can corner at a specific speed due to a. experience, b. sensing lateral acceleration levels, c. sensing slippage.
With the Rs, I can corner at a specific speed because the car is telling me that it is ok!! Absolutely incredible feedback. A driving line can be held with precision an order of magnitude greater than with the TT. I was going to keep the turbo when my Rs come in in May, but now I'm not sure that I would use it. Maybe replace it with some garage art (f car).

With the PASM off it does not ride any harsher then my carrera with H&R's ...the sound and feel are awesome...the RS clutch is a bit tricker due to the single mass but other then that its awesome...The tyres are not great in the wet but I am going to go through my set that came on the car and then goto PS2 regulars for the street...

Sounds like a winner already.

Can anyone compare it to the base gt3? (so strange using a word like 'base' in the same sentence as 'gt3')

PASM is never OFF
There are 2 settings: Normal & Sport

It is an active suspension and always changing depending upon conditions

That makes sense.
That's why it is so good.
It must constantly be reading information, steering, acceleration, braking, and even compression and rebound ratios when you drive over bumps to adapt the suspension to the best mode depending on what kind of road you are on.

Besides it looking that much cooler, is it THAT much better than the 'base' GT3?
