You did the better thing - 65k does sound low, especially when you know the dealer is going to flip it for more.

i didnt have time to do an actual photoshoot today at another location or take decent pictures so i just took some quick ones with my cellphone.

i still have the ben keaton sticker up on the GT3 from the cruise we had after his passing but i finally took it off today. oh yeah and the clear corners will be put on the turbo pretty soon....

and a bonus pic of some other toys (i know that this is like little league status compared to some of you on here, but give me SOME credit at least ). the cars were all taken out because my friend (photographer) wanted to get some pics. i'll probably have those pics in a couple of weeks.

Very nice stable.

If you do want to let it go for 65k i may be interested - better to give it to me for a lowball price than a dealer

Just kidding, keep the thing, it's the most sporty car in your collection.

Josh.

Nico,

Here are the numbers I've been seeing for my car (2004, GT3, Yellow, 11K):

Porsche Trade-in: $ 67K
Highline Dealer: $ 70K
Ebay Bidding: $ 72K
Private Party: $ 75K (a few deals at 78K have fallen thru)

The highline dealer I'm referring to is http://encoreautos.com/ . Ebay is a serious pain, and trying to sell the car private party is even worse. Selling the car private party is a serious hassle, there are many many flakes out there.

I hope this help out. In the end the trade-in is the best because you avoid all the headaches and hassles and depending on your local tax rate you can save around $4,000 in sales taxes by trading-in the car. Effectively bringing the sales price to around $ 71K.

Think of it this way- the dealer wants to make money on the car. So with that said, they are obviously offerering you ~6-8k less than market (retail) value.

Also, KBB (Edmunds, NADA, etc etc etc) are useless when you are trading in a car. No dealership EVER goes by any of them (unless they are showing you what retail on their car is (dealer trick). All dealerships go by Galves. Galves is basically wholesale (most of the time below) and thus why there is ALWAYS, I mean ALWAYS a discrepancy between what the dealer offers and what the customer has in mind.

Now, as far as specialty cars like in this case, Galves doesn't even show a value for the car. So what they do is go by their wholesalers, what they think its worth, or research cars that have passed at auction. And with any of those results subtract a few grand off of it and voila! You have a used car appraisal.

I'm sure that if you were persistant with getting more for the GT3 the dealership would have budged more (either on more allowance on the trade or discounting the TT more).

Sal

He has been patient... the car's been for sale a while now. Still, it should go for between $72~75K PP... I'd jump on the first real and best offer in that range.

Thanks guys for all the help and valuable info.

I'll be getting rid of the car when the lease is up. Either going to return it to the dealer or sell it through a private party, but I'm leaning towards private party since the numbers seem more reasonable.

Its a damn shame that a person purchases one of the best Porsches made for over $100,000++ and two years later its worth 70,000. That is one hell of a depreciated asset.

I have owned 6 or 7 P cars, and currently have a 06 Boxster S and an 05 GT3. Never again!

When my warranty runs out the GT3 is gone.
