IMHO a fair price is MSRP... and thing more is ridiculous... I'd settle with a regular GT3 with discounts...

I would be careful of paying a $50,000.00 premium when Porsche has decided to release an additional 170 RS units for 08..

it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. That being said, I think it's ridiculous that dealerships are allowed to charge above msrp for any new car. Anyone remember back when the 959 came out? Sure it cost 250K, but they weren't marking them up even though people turned around and sold them for 300k and more at the time. But atleast the dealerships back then had integrity and sold the cars at MSRP.

There is a black/orange one near me. 130k was the msrp. On the net for 199k. 70k "market" adjustment, and not even from a Porsche dealer. Didn't even have PCCBs. A few hundred miles on it too.

My .02, any item is worth what ever the market bears. If you don't like the price don't buy it. As far as the dealers are concerned. It's a business, if you thought ahead of time, and were a loyal customer, you get the perks of being able to order one of the special cars that come out from time to time and maybe pay MSRP for it.

However, if they have a "used" or a car that's in their inventory, why shouldn't they sell if for what ever the market is, regardless of MSRP? If they sell it to us at MSRP, and we can go sell it at 50 or 60 over MSRP, why is it OK for a private person to sell a car at over MSRP but it's not OK for a dealer to do it?

What would that car bring if it were on Ebay? How about the 74 RS that was for sale recently, people were talking that it was worth about 150k, so if a dealer were going to sell that car, would it be OK for them to sell it at over MSRP? Isn't it a "used" car? Are dealers only allowed to sell cars at or below MSRP? As a consumer, and buyer of Porsches I would love to be able to buy what ever car I wanted at or lower than MSRP, then I could drive it and sell it for more!! But the reality is that it's a business and this is an open market, therefore things sell for what ever the market bears.

i saw the car this weekend. very cool, but if I get an RS, i gotta get one of the wild color schemes. funny thing is, through the same dealership, i could order one and pay MSRP, albeit i'd have to wait like a year since they're all out of allocations, atleast that's what they told me.

I agree that they are worth what the market will bear, I applaud the successful sellers for being "lucky" enough to end up with an allocation, but I personally can't fathom spending 50,60, 70K over MSRP. IMO they will not hold their value.

Your in a very fortunate position. You can afford it at $62,000 over MSRP, but it doesn't have the color you want or PCCB's. Or you could wait 12 months, order the car with the options and color you want and pay appx. $62,000 less and put it toward Euro Delivery. This ones an easy choice.
