Sounds like the only way to get a car is to pre-order early. In the mean time I will make due with my RS4.

I think so, because the 996 GT3's were there since 2000 till 2005 I think. I doubt they wont be available as its highly in demand and people still want to get their hands on the Gt3.

It has been confirmed that they might be available.

Seriously though, I would expect them to be produced, demand is there and Porsche is all about the benjamins as of late. Look at all the news recently...more production, more vehicle lines, two door GT off the Panamera....blah blah blah.

RS4 is a great way to have to make due!

Its the next logical step but many years away. They have produced flat 8's before albeit in very small numbers. If they can shoehorn it in to the next 911 design thats probably what we will see, unless the 4 liter flat 6 makes sense in a market full of v8 sports and GT cars. Of course they could lighten the car up instead though. Time will tell.

Flat 8s don't have the natural balance of a flat 6 (or do they?) What we need is an effin' FLAT TWELVE

Kidding.

I give Porsche credit for making the most of these engines for so long and always providing a quality product, but I believe I've read somewhere that a substantial 911 power boost is imminent...and it sure is overdue IMO.

With everything going "green" and the "threat of global warming" the next version will be all electric and make absolutely no noise whatsoever. Just the sound of air turbulence around it.

Would that not be a disaster!! But scary to think that someday it may happen .
