OK, it is not the GT2, but saw a black RS in the showroom of Downtown LA Porsche, stick was something in the 140's, and they were asking, are you sitting down??? $75K over. I ran out of the showroom before any saleman was able to talk to me, went back to the office just up the street and swore never to buy a car from these people.

One good thing is it makes a GT3 look like a bargain and helps to retain value. That's hard to come by as P just hit their 100,000th 997 milestone

Has any car, ever historically justified a markup like this. For instance, did Enzo owners pay a markup from dealers? Wasnt the original price of them $500k, and now they are worth ~1mill?

I dont think the 997RS is a candidate for that by any means, just wondering if paying a markup has EVER been a winning proposition.

Enzo owners were invited to purchase the car for MSRP which was something around $6xx,xxx. They were only allowed to sell it back to Ferrari. It wasn't until it got into the second hand market where the price jump was evident.

That is such a good point - You could get a VERY nice GT3 and a decent base Carrera for a DD for the same money. That would be my choice...

That's sick.
Funny story, the day I picked up my TT, an RS and a regular GT3 arrived, speculators bailed on both. I tried to buy the rs on the spot at msrp, was a handshake away but had to go to the hospital urgently, when I returned three hrs later the speculator came up with the financing. Often wonder what happened to that car, never saw it pop up anywhere. Then, I almost got the 3, but my wife had a fit bc no back seat...that car went for under msrp back in May just before they announced the my08 production limits, saw it on ebay a week later. Classic case of a day late and a dollar short.

Every enzo was sold at msrp, all spots were filled before production even started. The second hand market is whats causing $1.2mil prices. People who are selling theirs will never get another exclusive Fcar from them.

Heck, I could buy 10 or more Honda Civic's with that kind of dough.
