yet another Ferrari vs Porsche

The F430 Challenge is going to be a fantastic car. It looks great and it won't be wrose than the GT2 in terms of performance. I guarantee it. If you get one and you don't like it, I will buy it from you, no questions asked. PM me anytime!
Porsche guys, don't get me wrong, I love my GT3 and I think it is as good as a Ferrari (I know for the fact as I owned a 360CS), if not slightly better (because 997 is finally >400hp), but there isn't much difference that we as everyday drivers can distinguish. Ferrari's and Porsches are different cars with different characterisitcs, but the ultimate performance is very similar.
In the end it will be a matter of taste and how deep a pocket you have as to which one you will choose.

Oh! You mean how the 360 CS was no worse in performance than a 996 GT2?

I'll place a wager than the 997 GT2 blows the 430 Scuderia away by a fair amount. That NA V8 has no torque, especially as compared to the GT2 with the VTG turbos. I'll bet the 430 Scuderia tested Ring time will be slower than the 997 RS. And bet that the GT2 will be a few seconds faster than the RS with the same type of tires.

GT2 will destroy the 430 Scuderia, hands down. You'd better have a 599 Fiorano to keep up with that thing.

I'm sure that the 430 Scuderia will perform very well, but the numbers Porsche has published are great...and they tend to be VERY conservative. IMO the the 430 Scud is an ugly duckling. I'm suprised how it looks so tacked together when the 360CS is one of the sexiest cars ever. Also, I don't think you would be able to get one at MSRP unless you are already on the list.

Agreed! And BTW, 996GT2 02 model posted a 7;42 around the Nurburgring, that is already 3-5 seconds faster then the 997 GT3 RS I believe, I cannot imagine what the 997 GT2 will do

As much as I love the GT-2, I would go with the Scuderia. Nothing more exhilirating than a high revving, loud, visceral, N/A car. That is one of the reasons why I'm in love with the GT3-RS. The GT-2 will still be super refined. Power isn't everything! The thing about the F430 is that its not as photogenic as its older brother, but see one in the streets and it just looks astonishing!

no

The 360CS comparison was with 997 GT3, what I drive now. I have never owned a 996 GT3 or a 996 GT2, so I don't know.
If you have not driven or owned a Ferrari before, you better try one before you pass judgement. They are very refined cars and extremely fast. I have a GT3 and my 360CS is gone, so I am not biased against Porsche at all. Just my opinion based on what I have owned and experienced before.

The GT2 will be a usable car. It wont draw the attention that the 430 will at the gas pump. But then again the only person it needs to impress is the one behind the wheel.

Its kinda like blonde or brunette? If ya know what I mean...

Based on todays available cars the 996GT2 which we own and the 360/430 .
I have spent a ton of time in our car obviously and logged many trips in the 360 and 430 cars.

The reaction I get is as follows;

360-430 everyone is looking at you. You pull into a station people tend to flock to the car. Everyone has a question and they think you are some rock starfor driving it.. Not bad if thats what you are looking for.

GT2. Not everyone looks twice......... Only a few people really know what it is. You almost always get a thumbs up from people who know what the Gt2 is and represents. Its nice when your crusing down the 405 and the dude on the superbike next to you pulls along side and gives you thumbs up.
Its all about the respect.. The GT2 has earned its repuation as being one bad **** car..
Did I mention it goes pretty damn good too...

Just my .02 cents.

Maybe you are "tongue in cheek", but if not, thats a pretty dumb *** statement. I can totally understand and respect Fabryce's statement and reasoning, but a blanket disqualification of some of the best cars in the world is just ridiculous.
I went for a long drive in the TT yesterday and its such rocket. Nevertheless, to many Joe Q Publics out on the road, Porsches represent an effete snobbish ***** behind the wheel and certainly not everyone worships the margue no more than they do Ferrari or Lamborghini. So don't kid yourself that just because Porshce makes a ton more cars and some much more affordable (maybe) to you and me, that does not remove the public stigma to many who can not afford any of them.

And I totally agree Toddbee, one of each in the garage would make a garage from heaven!

hahaha..Easy, pal! Obviously... I was joking. I love Ferraris. I even work for them back in the 90's (although I prefer the Porsche). Relax that sentence was a bait...
