Those who upgraded from a 2002/2003 C2 to a GT3, Thoughts.

My dealer recently got a White GT3 in (I LOVE WHITE 911's) and the buyer backed out and decided to keep his Turbo. The dealer called me and offered a deal (though I know it won't be much). I have a 2003 C2 that I got last year in April. I love the car, but have only put about 3800 miles on it in the year. Next year and henceforth I probably will be driving a lot more (around 10k miles a year is normal for me).

I have absolutely loved the concept and appeal of a GT3 since it was released. Beautiful car, beautiful idea, and masterful implementation. I love the racing heritage engine, the adjustiblity of the car, and the fact that there are GT3 Cup Cars out there campaigning which are very similar to the street GT3 and winning.

Now here is the kicker. I'll probably have to toss in $30-40k and my car. I have the money, so that isn't a problem, but I just can't decide whether it is worth it. Probably its because I haven't driven a GT3 (or for that matter a turbo -- I hate to get that itch and perhaps lessen what I have until I'm ready to move on). My dealer is also located halfway across the country (I've used them for years and never felt a need to switch to a local dealer). I'm just trying to decide whether I should stick with the C2 (a great car) or whether I should go for the GT3. I know I'll love it, but is it worth $30-40k more to own it.

Note: I do track cars but probably only get out about twice a year at best.

Here's a thought, for $35k you could buy a GT3 engine, sell your engine and with the money get suspension and brake upgrades... nevermind, just buy the GT3.

AdamB, if you think that you want more power, want a more aggressive car, a car that is immediate power whenever you want, go for the GT3. On the other hand, I dont think I would want the GT3 to be my everyday driver, since u plan on putting 10K miles a year. This is just my thought since if i got a GT3 i would put in the GT3 seats and a roll bar and other race-car style accesories.

The only want to see if it is "worth it" to get the GT3 is to actually test drive one. Granted you may get the itch to have that power, you will be able to justify if that additional 70+/- HP is worth that $35K. Or you could get ur car EVO Supercharged for $12K and get about 120hp. And back to metal solid, get suspension and brake upgrades for 10K. wchih would mean u spent around $20K for a car that may surpass the GT3, but not have that GT3 authenticity

Just my 0.02

i would say you should keep your car and enjoy it for another year or two. put some more miles on it. so the depreciation isnt so hard so fast. the gt3 or a turbo or a supercharger will be there later. and the deal on the gt3 probably isnt all that great anyway. not like your passing up the only oportunity to get on..
