PCCB Price reduced in UK

Porsche GB has obviously listened to the owners concerns about the PCCB prices and has just reduced the price for replacement and exchange discs as follows:

New discs down from circa £5,800+vat to £4,100+vat each

Exchange discs (which are new ceramic parts fitted to reconditioned bells) - down from £3,100+vat to £2,200 + vat

This is obviously great news for PCCB owners.

This now means that a pair of front discs can be had for £5k exchange, rather the old price of nearly £14k for new.

Given that the price for steel discs is circa £1k per pair (from Porsche), the PCCB discs only need to last 4-5 times as long as the steel discs to be a similar cost/mile.

Given this only effects heavy track users, who would ordinarily expect to replace steel discs as some intervals, this is welcome news indeed. The bills will be less frequent for PCCB owners, albeit larger when they arrive - but at least not insane like before......

The iron discs can be had from around $500 a pair here, from Porsche's own racing division, so you're paying way too much for your metals over there.

The £1k was rounded up, including fitting and taxes..........

The point was that instead of being 20 times as expensive, they are now about 5 times or so as expensive, which is much more in line with their relative life..............

GUY: That is, in deed, good news. I'm sure the price of PCCB's will come down even more in the future, and they will, in fact, last at least 5-6 times longer than the steel rotors (based upon anecdotal evidence reported by some hard core track junkies). In one case the ratio was closer to 9:1 -- very dependent on driving style and type of pad used.

Andrew: As for the price, Guy is going with dealer prices for comparison purposes. US dealer prices for GT3 front rotors are in excess of $700. I'm sure discounts are available on PCCB's also, if you know where to look.

PCCB

Watt,

I shoulda written a longer response, didn't mean to sound annoyed.........

What I meant was that Porsche are selling the re-con PCCB at half-price, so I assume they will also do so in the good ole US of A.......
