GTS-R is infamous around these parts
The GT3 is a better value over the RS even w/o the markup. For the money asked, I'd go for a GT3 speccing it exactly how you'd want it.

If the $$$ is not an issue then RS. It will be a collector piece.

If you even have to ask this question and are depending on third party opinions to make your decision, then you definitely need to F-it and by the Z06... This is a Porsche enthusiasts forum and we may be a bit bias!!!

buy the car you want to drive.
dont buy an RS and put 100 miles on it every month.
RS isn't a collector item, it's just a car.
8500 miles and counting.
full of chips too

If money is no object then RS.

If money is "somewhat" important GT3.

If you are on a "budget" then 996 GT3.

Don't buy the Z.

Hey Marc,
G was a great car....Issue was too many bugs on the 04 (always a trade-off between waiting for later MYs and being the first on the block to get a car).
Also, on 04s there was no front lift in the UAE - later became available as an option....Without it, speed bumps (which they seem to love in Dubai) are a PITA!!

360CS is still going for MSRP...Just wait til the 430 SC comes out....They made too many 360 CS and GT3 RS for them to be collectors...

You never hear about 996 GT3 RS being a collectors do you? Probably they will facelift 997 (LEDs etc), come out with another MKII 997 GT3 RS and current ones will not be worth much

my 2 cents

I don't think the GT3 RS will technically be a collector. Hard to find Yes. I buy cars to drive them so don't care about that. Porsche is only making 229 RS's this year and 60 next year. I would call that very low production even by Ferrari standards. The 2 cars GT3 or GT3 RS are really cool either one you'll be happy. Buy the one you like the looks of the most. Best color etc. Drive it hard when you get it.

If you can swing the bat, get the RS, if you like the color/options.

If you are mental about having your options, get the GT3. It will provide almost/exactly the same driving experience as the RS.

IMHO resale will be about the same in a couple of years, RS holding a little more. Both cars will be worth less than msrp at that point.

Don't plan on a MkII, that's still a dream/wish of the non RS owners. May happen, but don't bet on it.
