should I buy a GT3 or a GT3RS?
I was in the same dilema as you, I went with the GT3 for the following reasons.
1. Not sure if the premium paid now will hold for the next few years, and if it does it will only hold if the car is an absolute GARAGE QUEEN! Which kinda defeats the purpose of buying an GT3/RS, or any Porsche.
2. Unless you plan to competively race the car like in Endurance races or something close to that where 0.10 seconds count on every lap, then the GT3 is the way to go.

Buy the one you like the looks of. If you buy a car because your worried about losing value than don't buy any of them. GT3 or RS whatever floats your boat. Don't buy either to race they just aren't that good in race situations. Buy a 996 GT3 Cup and race the crap out of it. Better yet buy a 997 GT3 cup and go crazy on the track. Both of the cars have great prowless and are great to listen to. The rest of the crap is for you to decide. Find one with the right options, buy it, and drive the tires off.
You have to make your choices, your money and your life but the Z06 at the end is a chevy and not even in the same galaxy as Porsche quality. After 3 years you got what? Porsche after 10 - 15 years you got something. The RS has the single mass flywheel, 44 mm wider rear track and no sunroof (the worst item) over on the GT3. The rest it is the same car. I have a 997 GT3 and I put the lighter RS flywheel, the RS factory roll cage and the RS wing and decklid. In addition Champion Motorsports got for me the GT3 Cup car suspension (all spherical/monoball joints and beefier control arms). The car is a brick and awesomely precise and I love it. Point being, you can make a better GT3 without the big wack of the MSRP mark up. If you can get a GT3 go for it!!! Oh and BTW, I have and strongly recommend the FVD headers and race exhaust with their software. Outrageous sound and massive gains in the mid-range (were you want it). At 4000 rpm's gains of 40 ft/lb torque and 45 hp. All numbers aare measured to the wheels !!. This compared to the dyno run with the car stock. The curve naturallycomes closer to stock at 8000 rpm showing lesser gains. The meat of it all is 3000 to 5000 rpm's. Check the FVD thread presently, GT3 exhaust, and you'll hear my car.
I feel like the throttle doesnt rev as quick and free as it may with the new Flywheel.
Am I understanding the difference correctly. What is the perceived difference?
Thanks
Go RS!
I have a 2004 GT-3, a 2007 GT3-RS, and the ZO6. I can tell you with out question the RS is superior to the others. Now the ZO6 does offer tremendous value/performance, but not even in the same galaxy as the feel/quality of the RS.
should buy GT3 or aGT3Rs
+1 My recommendation is buy what you want. I would prefer GT3Rs over GT3 and the resale value is pretty good. EVO magazine Dec issue they rated GT3Rs #1 over Ferrari. GT3Rs will my next car.
well if you want a performance car that is in that price range and will do circles around the gt3 as well as a CGT. its the Ultima GTR. its like 7 seconds faster than the enzo on the Top Gear track. it smokes the Koenigsegg CCX. its about $110k
