Is this the right wheel size for a G?

Hey guys. I just put 50% down on a set of those crazy looking SDS Avaritia wheels. The set I am going to buy is as follows:

Front: 20 x 8.5 with 245/30/ZR20 Continental SportContact 3 Tires
Rear: 20 x 11.5 with 305/25/ZR20 Continental SportContact3 Tires

Does this sound like the right f&r size to you guys? If so, what should the "perfect" f&r offset be if I plan to lower the living hell outta my G?

I am just afraid of buying wheels because a good friend of mine told me that the G diff could "blow up" if I put the wrong size wheels on the car and pound the heck outta the car. He said the wrong size wheels stress the diff.

Any truth to this?

Front tire size is 235 not 245. The offest is perfect for lowering. Ran 7k miles with zero issues. The diameters are even closer to 0 in tolerance than the factory 19" sizing. You'll be very happy with them.

Yes you can ruin the diff, but if you get the 235 up front as Carrera said, you wont have any problems. Ive done a few with those sizes and have had no problems.

Carrera305, Since you already have these wheels, you are one of the people I wanted to get info from... What exactly do you mean when you say that these wheels are closer to zero in tolerance than the factory wheels? How is this possible?

I have heard from a friend who worked as a sales rep at DAZZ Motorsports for years that I should run 19-Inch front wheels and NOT 20-Inch front wheels because they had "issues" with Gallardo's busting up transaxles and the like while running 20-Inch front wheels... Is there any truth to this, or is it more so based on the width of the tire & wheels versus the diameter?

I buy from Dazz regularly, and they will tell you the same as me. You can use 20/20 just the same as 19/20 and you are just fine. Its less common yes, but works fine. The proper tire size for 19/20 is 235/35/19 and 305/25/20.

20/20 is just better lookin, and I would recommend it.

"Zero tolerance" means perfect. Bigger the tolerance, the bigger the potential difference. You want the wheels to be as close to each other as possible as far as rolling diameter. The gears inside a diff need to run as close to equal speed as possible to prevent problems.

Well your fried is incorrect in those statements. It ha nothing to do with the wheel diameter but rather making sure the proper tire size is used. Any car with a Viscous AWD system is very sensitive to changes in tire diameter. It can withstand having the wheels approx 2% in height change. The factory 19" wheels and tires have a 1.89% difference. For the proper 20" all around (235 & 305) the difference is 1.74%. I've seen issues with running a 245 on the front and those are not limited to diff problems.

The setup you're purchasing will fit and function properly. Get them on and enjoy the hell out of them.

To clarify, the stock 19-Inch wheels have a 1.89% difference from what baseline measurement wheel & tire? I thought the stock 19-Inch wheels & tires WERE the baseline wheels & tires that any measurements are taken from...

I am going to be stressing the drivetrain of my G a great deal (aka. driving the car like I stole it), so I am just trying to clarify this whole thing because I am hearing so many different things, and if anyone can break the drivetrain on ANY car, it would be me...

BTW, Rob @ Dazz told the shop I am ordering my wheels from that he didn't want to disclose all the info he gleaned from their trial & error sessions with G's, but he basically told my shop "Run 19's in the front to avoid problems." This was just yesterday that he told my shop that. And my friend Mike who used to work at Dazz for years told me the same thing about not running 20's in the front...

Baseling measurement using 235/35-19 and 295/30-19 P Zero Rosso. If running 20's was an issue, myself, Rami and all the others running these would have had issues by now.

It may or may not help your decision but I own SDS. I know which wheels your purchasing (not from me BTW and there are no more sets available for sale) and can assure 100% you are not going to have any differential issues because of the wheels. I put my own Gallardo through the paces for just shy of 10k miles with ZERO problems (7K on a set of AV-80's). If you have further questions please do not hesitate to call me. +1 800 758 3050 option #1.
