Bad colors and high mileage for Gallardo?
Bad colors and high mileage for Gallardo?
I've considered buying a 2004 Gallardo e-gear, but want to have an exit strategy for when I sell it later down the road.
What are some of the most undesirable colors?
What is considerd high mileage?
What price range have you guys seen lately?
Thanks!

Also, how much are the used clear bonnets selling for now a days?
I'm looking at a Gcar that has a painted one, but I really want the clear bonnet..I'm vain I know, but if you're buying a supercar, you should show off the engine...LOL.

I am shopping for a 2004 as well, but I want a 6 speed. It seems like the silver is the least desirable color for 2004. Not that yellow is undesirable, but it seems other than silver, thats the most common color out there.
As well, it looks like the more modified the car is, the less desirable it is as well. I think mileage is a bit subjective, but in my shopping, I am looking for cars with under 12,000 miles. Updated clutch is alsoa must, especially with an egear.
I have found an 04 car with everything I want except for the clear bonnet, but I haven't found any preowned. I thought it was a 3,750 option from the dealer as originally optioined, but I could be wrong. It was just something I heard. I would love to have the bonnet too.
Prices are still dropping on them though. I have seen themfrom $110 to $125k on the lower end, and as high as the $140's, but those sellers are a little out of touch with the market.

the clear engine bonnet from the dealer is $6K+ and the CF bonnet is $9K+. also it was a rare option in 04 vs 05.

I am also looking for a pre-owned G but I'm trying to shy away from the 04's and wait a little longer for the 05-06 models to drop a little more.
Yellow and Silver are everywhere. Blue, Orange, Green....sorry, I don't remember the official color code names, seem to be more on the rare side.
In terms of when to sell it down the road, I'm not sure what to say. G prices are only going to continue dropping. I bet we see 04's going for under $100k on average by next summer, especially if they have over 15k miles on them.

Clear engine bonnett was not available on 2004 cars till very very late production, very hard to find. The least re-sale color IMO has been the silver and or the cars with Bi-sport color interiors AS well as any heavily moded cars.
There were more 6 speed 2004 cars, (pct wise) than any other year of production. As of 2009 LAMBORGHINI will ONLY produce a 6speed by customer order with a deposit...they will not make any for flooring at dealers.
The vin# to stay away from on 2004 cars is any vin UNDER the 450 mark or so..first 450 cars...a lot of upgrades came out starting on the cars after that number production.
As far as miles, an average of about 5K per year is the norm, so a 2004 car, now being 5 years old...20K-25K is the norm. IMO the cars with some miles HAVE always been better than the garage queens that have been sitting.
Hope this helps

Hey Kevin,
I'm running into the same thing. Seems silver and 20,000 miles is pretty soft for the 04 eGear Gallardo.
They're the most affordable however. Its great when you buy a car, drive it for awhile and enjoy, then sell it without a loss. I change cars every 2 years and that extra dough is lovely.
I figure if the car doesn't have a new clutch just prepare to tack on another $5-6k.
Thanks for the input.

I'm on the fence, but close to pulling the trigger on an eGear. Much more subtle than my loud R34 Skyline GTR.
I've seen lots of yellow and silver. I feel like silver is the least desirable based on prices I've seen.
Personally, silver looks awesome. Very futuristic. Then again, I saw a yellow one the other day and damn it looks hot. Not crazy about the other colors.
All my past cars, I've bought, driven for years and sold for a profit or broke even.
I did lose my *** on my Z71 Tahoe. Bought that 2 years ago for $3k back of wholesale blue book, now I can't give it away for half of wbb. Damn gas prices!!!
