"A" Button in console

I just had the "A" button in the center console replaced due to peeling. Now when I press A, auto engages. However, to go back to manual I have to press and hold the A button for a full second or two before it switches back. Is this normal? I don't remember the old button doing that. Thanks, oleg.

doesn't it switch back to manual when you use the paddles?

I could use the paddles. However, I want to make sure the button is not defective, since I can have it replaced again at no cost. Also, there is nothing about it in the owner's manual.
