Lambo buying advise????

Not selling the TT, but, thinking about picking up a Gallardo or Murci in the next 6-12 months. Never thought I would be able to swing it at prices near 200k and up but I see they along so many of our loved toys are dropping in price pretty fast.

For anyone who owns or has owned one, I would love to hear the good, bad and ugly?

Thinking 06 ish on the G or whatever year on the Murci that makes the most all around sense dollars and cents wise.

Never been a better time to buy if you can!! As for Murcie or Gallardo, its totally upto you. I chose the Gallardo simply because the Murcie was too much. I looked like a monkey getting in and out, hard to drive because of the size and angle of the seats, not as nimble as the Gallardo.

I had a 750hp 996 TT before the Gallardo and even though the Gallardo is a slower car, I don't miss the Porsche one bit. The Gallardo is just a better car all around. I haven't had mine for very long so I can't tell you about reliability, but from what I've been told they are pretty solid. Good Luck and let us know on your next purchase!

The LP is just their higher HP cars, kind of like when Porsche's use "S" (ex Carrera S, Turbo S)

For the Murcielago its the LP 640 and the Gallardo is the LP 560. The Murcielago LP640 has depreciated quite a bit and are in the mid 200's the Gallardo LP560 are in the high 100's to low 200's..

I would get a LP560 if you could, that car is a beast! and I bet it is as fast or faster then your 650hp tt.

Not correct...the LP stands for "Longitudinale Posteriore". The position the engine is mounted in the car..

The 2009 LP560-4 Gallardo does have more HP, approx 553HP USA

The Lp640 Murcie is up from the 2002-2006 MY cars by approx 18HP, to approx 632 USA and the 2010 LP670-4 is up to approx 667HP USA..

You are right about the reason for the LP moniker. It's funny though that the original G and M have their engines mounted LP too.

Isn't the Murci engine 580 horses or 60hp less?

Interesting that you say a 560 hp awd car with much lower torque would be faster than a 650hp/650+tourque awd car. I can't say yet b/c I have not raced one on a 3rd gear roll or from a standing start nor have I had the pleasure to drive a G yet.

What I do know is that my car had hung with and slowly, I mean very slowly pulled on my buddy Jnixon's 750 AWE 997tt which leads me to think that proto was being conservitave with the 650 name. Perhaps the absence of cats help as well as the lw flywheel on my car. Thanks for the input though.

If you like to drive your cars, get the Gallardo - You'll never look back.

Thats because its doesn't have 560hp.. I've seen dynos at over 500 to the wheels with those cars.. They trap around 127mph in the quarter which is what a 650hp TT does. If you get a LP560, you'll never even want to get in another Porsche again (aside from CGT)

yeah, the 560 is a different car and will probably faster than your Porsche. but the 08 G I have is slower than my TT was for sure, especially up here at altitude...but honestly, I dont really care cause the G is outstanding in every way.

Keep in mind that an 08 G is going to cost in the 150-160 range still and the 560s are still mostly selling in the 190s. so if you are trying to keep it on the slightly less expensive side, you are probably going to need to look at 06-07s, which are still incredible cars.
Personally for me the Murci is a bit too much, and I hear they arent built as well as the G...but I love the scissor doors. Perhaps Ill get a Diablo or something some day to compliment my normal doored G :-)

That is exactly what I trap at the strip 127 with tons of wheel spin in 1st-3rd gears and 19" ps2's. Good call.
