Ford GT or Aventador
Forgive my ignorance - what do you mean by this?
He meant buyers of Lambo's don't suffer the worries of depreciation or maintenance cost/hassle.
The rest of us who do buy Ford's, Nissan's (and Chevy's).

Agreed.
(Maybe one of the reasons I am one of those eagerly awaiting the release of the C7)
no offence ofcourse.
Basically i saw a F360 recently as a next car over my 4s. 10.000 miles, 60k$ awesome...
Then heard about horrible maintenance stories like 20-30K$ and i felt like HIRISC, as i said to myself "what the **** im not going to spend a fortune for a budget, i can buy a 996TT for less which is actually a better car and performer."
However i bet that if GM or Ford wanted to built a car similar to a Lambo would cost no less...

Chevy already did - ZR1
Nissan already did - GTR
Audi already did - Aventador
You don't see the Ford GT as an exotic ?
The damn thing is as beautiful as can be. Get one, you'll see.

The big
after the Aventador - Audi comment *should* have made the point self-evident. I guess not.....
If you've never driven the GT, I'd suggest you hold off on your discounting it as not an exotic. The thing is a beauty AND a beast at the same time. And it's an absolutely magical car. I'll never sell mine. In fact, I'd buy another if I could.
As for the choices of the OP, a better comparison might be TWO Ford GT's or an Aventador. And if that was the choice, I'd take the GT's. And TT one of them with the extra cash left over. But maybe that's just me. And don't get me wrong, the Lambo is an AMAZING car. Groundbreaking probably. I'd just choose the Ford.

If a key concern is preservation of capital, Waxer brings up a solid point. I believe the FGT has weathered very well in the depreciation category, losing a surprisingly little percentage over a number of years. Flagship Lambos have, historically, not demonstrated this same behavior. The Aventador is new and thus untested in the depreciation world. My sense is that it will depreciate less than the typical Lambo for 2-3 years, but will then take a turn toward what Lambo depreciation has historically demonstrated. But, even having said all this, the answer is simple... What one excites you more? That is the path you should follow and forget the numbers. Just my .02
Aside from the obvious price difference between the two (that many have already brought up) and of course the - admittedly - expected depreciation of the Aventador, another good reason to go for the GT is that the design is much more 'timeless'. Most Lambo's have a habit of looking somewhat old/dated pretty fast, at least in my view. The GT has a much more classic design (which arguably makes it dated to begin with
) that I feel will still be just as desirable in ten or fifteen years as it is now.
