Looking to buy LP560, what to look out for

Been looking around for some time now at either an LP560-4 or a Ford GT... Finally found the exact LP i was looking for with every option I want(carbon ceramics, E-Gear, etc) and at the price point/color combo I wanted. I had an 05 Gallardo 6 speed a few years ago so I understand the cost of ownership associated with these cars. But just seeing what you guys would have to say as far as what needs to be particularly cared after/checked out if and when I do purchase..

Btw If it does end up in my stable, you all can rest assured it will not remain stock for very long. Thanks for the help.

After driving both, I advise people who value performance, feel, and handling to buy the 550-2 instead.

If you are talking about performance mods, the only significant thing you can do to the Gallardo is a $60k turbo install.

On the GT, you can get another 100 hp for $2,000. Or you can swap out the stock supercharger for a Whipple for $10-15k. Bottom line, its always going to be easier to mod a car already designed for FI.

Then you can think about the car that will keep depreciating hard versus the one that won't.

Yea I know the Ford GTs modding capabilities comparative to the Gallardo, especially basic cost wise is much lower and the idea of doing a SC/TT build on a FGT is quite alluring. But having owned a Gallardo before I really do miss it and I have driven the 560-4 before, was thoroughly impressed with the differenced compared to the one I had. I guess I have a tough decision to make seeing as the exact lambo i want is available and almost a year now into my search for the FGT i want and still haven't found it. I wanna be patient for the exact ride I want to become available but seeing this 560 almost broke all my patience. Then again if i do decide to buy the gallardo now and find a FGT down the road I can always sell and go after that. I'll keep u guys updated though. Also any more thoughts about the whole situation is greatly appreciated.

Gallardos are very stout cars there are almost no maintenance issues to look out for. Have a dealer do a PPI and if it is e-gear a snapshot of the clutch. I have put 26,000 miles on my 2005 6speed and very little has ever broken.

I had an 05 6 speed also for about 1.5 years and never had any issues with it, put like 10k or so on it and enjoyed every single bit of it. The car I'm looking at is being sold by a friend who has a seriously impressive collection of rides, all climate controlled, not beaten on/tracked/raced/etc and meticulously maintained but the PPI is definitely still a necessity.

I would go FGT just because I see only one of them for every dozen or so Gallardo/LP560s I see around CT.

That was my thinking in going with the AWD vs RWD Gs... I've seen a few TT FGTs floating around lately and they are horribly tempting to jump on but I'd rather start stock and do the builds my way rather than inherit someone else project/build. Unless Mullet wanted to sell his FGT

Definitely a rarity to see a FGT in CT vs the Gallardo but the exclusivity of having something someone else doesn't have isn't that big of a concern for me. If that was the case I'd just mod my Noble to hell and back.

Have a little bit of time to make the decision on the G though, it's a soft sale by a friend and he let me know I have first opportunity to buy if someone else makes him an offer. Who know the more I think about which direction I wanna go the more a monster GTR rolls into my head. An Alpha Omega/R1kx type build is looking quite tempting especially with a number of quality shops around the area doing some impressive things with GTRs.

Little update for everyone... Decided to go ahead an purchase the LP560-4 from my friend. Hopefully in a few days everything on his end will be taken care of and I'll officially take ownership of it by this weekend. Also will be reaching out to UGR and Dallas Performance tomorrow to discuss my options on what we can really do to make this everything I want from it.

Btw you will likely see a few rides pop up for sale in the coming weeks. Likely my S65 and a 360 Spider so I can clear up some room and appease the wife so I can throw everything I've got into a big time build.

Thanks for everyones input.

Congrats on your purchase!

Installing a twin turbocharged system a LP 560 is a big investment. With that said my best advise to you is to visit all the tuners that have actually completed one. Go for a ride in a completed TT 560 or TT 570. Riding in a TT Gallardo is a lot different from the TT 560. From the factory the LP 560 is a completely different setup than the older Gallardo. Everything from the engine, fuel system, electronics and ECU's. As some of the new shops building them will very soon find out the 550, 560, 570 and V10 R8 platforms are much more difficult than the older Gallardo platform. The clutch/shift and setup procedures are also very difficult to get correct esp under boost levels and will take time for new tuners to figure it out. Even other tuners that have been around have not figured this out yet. These are just a few of many hurdles that once they actually get one close to what they think is done they will quickly find out that its not so easy.

That being said, we are very well experienced on the 550, 560 & 570 Twin Turbo builds as we have completed more than all tuners combined and the same goes for the older TT Gallardo platform as well. We have put in a lot of hard work and R&D time into these platforms over the past several years and it has paid off as our product is far superior to any other.

Make sure to verify warranty on the builds. Right on our site we advertise our warranty. Depending on which build, you get a full 2 Year / 24k Mile Warranty. That's just NOT a workmanship warranty. No matter what happens, as long as you follow the proper procedures as instructed, if your engine or anything else we upgraded gets hurt we will replace/repair it at no charge, no excuses.

Also, get a guarantee on the time line of the build. I have so many new customers that have been burned by other tuners. Like a tuner saying they can jump right on it and complete your project in a couple of months and it ends up being there for 6 months to 1 year + and still not right. So I have made it simple for those who are concerned about time lines. I start by providing the build time frame on their build sheet. If we don't get the build done on time, the customer will not have to pay us anything. That's right! The customer will get the upgrade at no charge if we miss the deadline! We complete full builds (stage2-3) in 6-8 weeks, Guaranteed! Obviously, there are guidelines that must be followed by the customer for this guarantee but it’s all very clean cut.

Now that's some customer satisfaction right there!!! I've yet to see any other tuning shop offer anything like UGR does, whether it be Exotics or any other platform for that matter!! Truly incredible.

Thanks guys and the few UGR cars I've been in have all thoroughly impressed me not just with the performance but with the sheer build quality/attention to detail on all your rides. I've been in a UGR Gallardo(stage 2 i believe) and an LP560 TT build you guys did also. Having been around some seriously fast cars over the years and then riding in both of those cars is what really changed my mind about what fast is. Like my corvette is fast but those big power TT builds are completely savage. A big thanks has to go out to Kevin and Peter for the words of wisdom. Will keep everyone updated on what direction I'm gonna be going in hopefully pretty soon.
