Soon to be Gallardo owner
Hello Lambo owners! I am dying to buy a used Gallardo and have some newbie questions. I saw a 2005 Gallardo with only 12500 miles that is selling for $117,000 at the Lambo dealership. Currently i own a 2009 Carrera and like to trade it in for the Gallardo.
1) whats is the maintenance cost of the Gallardo compared to 2009 Porsche Carrera?
2) should i wait a few more years and buy a newer model?
3) any major issues with 2005 Gallardo with E gear?
4) i prob with be driving at least 9,000 to 15,000 a year so what am i expecting as for maintenance expense.
5) i currently get about 17 mpg on my 2009 Careera driving mostly streets and state hwys will i get simular mileage with the Gallardo?
6) is there anything else i should look out for before the purchase?
Thanks!

Price is too high. You can get a 2006 for less.
Maint is more costly but a good example is very reliable, abt same as a 997. Egear is clunky and does not drive well in traffic. I would opt for a manual if you plan to do that many miles on the car. Egear can be troublesome and costly to repair. Otherwise, keep a car for daily duty.
Gas mileage is around 13-15 mpg depending on amt of traffic.
Electronics should be checked. Ac, brake, cel are some of the common issues.

Mine is 2005. Early g clutch is fine as long as it is replaced already. If you plan to drive this car daily, you would hate it. Traffic and Lambo don't mix. It is like torture.... Manual is better than egear, if that tells you how bad egear is in traffic. Mine is egear and I never drive in traffic. Only whe roads are clear in back roads. Get a r8 or stick w Porsche if it's a dd

E gear clutch replacement is going to cost you at least 2x more compared to your Carrera, maybe more. And if you need any kind of parts on the Gallardo most likely there will be a little bit of a wait if servicing from a dealer.
I had an '05 Gallardo and using it as a DD was not practical, it was just too flashy and I live in Miami where there a ton of high end cards like LA. I agree with what others have said on e-gear, really hard in any kind of traffic. I moved to a manual Porsche TT. Much more tolerable as a DD and super quick.
Hope this helps.

Gallardo's are great reliable cars, but very expensive to maintain. I have both cars, Gallardo E-gear and 997 C4S. If you are going to be driving the car as a daily driver 10-15K a year in traffic, plan on putting in a Kevlar/Carbon Fiber Clutch. Will last 300% longer than stock! Early model egear G's are very nice cars, but the egear system tends to be very jerky in 1st gear! Clutch $8K, Oil Change $400, but you can do the oil change and 15K service with no issues for a fraction of the cost. Best of luck with your purchase. FYI, Spring has sprung and prices are going up!
