Gallardo 04-05 vs 997TT 07-09?

I think the Gallardo should be faster because it weights less and it has 20HP more than the 997TT

I have a 997TT and I'm in the process of getting a Gallardo... But I never drove one before...

 

I'd be very surprised if the 04-05 G is quicker or faster. They have a very tall 1st gear which hurts the acceleration. I spent quite a bit of time driving a friends 08 SL, and even that would be pretty close to the 07-09 TT. Granted, it was a while ago that I drove the SL, so my memory could be failing me, but the SL seemed about the same as my Z06, maybe slightly slower, and the 07TT also feels very similar to the C6 Z.

And with very minor mods on the TT its not even close, IMO. The G is a badass car nonetheless, and I'm sure any car nut would ant one. They are a lot of car for <$100k.

 

If your just drag racing id put money on the 997tt for the gearbox and no low end on the G car.

 

997tt is faster 0-60 for sure. It's under 4 second in stock form. A LP560/570 will beat a 997tt in 0-60 or quarter mile, stock to stock.

04-05 Gallardo is about 4.0-4.2 second. You are looking at a 0.5 second difference I think.

Gallardo does feel more planted to the ground in turns. The 997TT is more nimble. The difference between the two around corners is largely due to mid engine vs rear engine setup.

The main difference between the two is looks and sound actually, which makes up for a 1/2 second performance lost IMO. I have never dragged raced anyone.

 

.5 second different is a lot... well i just gonna stay away from the TT... lol anyway when you drive a Gallardo you don't want to go fast!!

 

Gallardo is fine until you put your first clutch in her at less than 10000 miles, you'll wish you had the Porsche when you spend $7000.......for the clutch install

 

Ehhhh its not like a 997tt clutch job is $1100....

 

The turbo doesn't need a clutch so often either.....

 

Gallardo doesn't need a new clutch every 10000 miles either.... They last for "15,000 miles more or less depending how you drive it... And when you replace the clutch you just have to get a Kevlar clutch, that should last 300% more than stock clutch...

You can't expect to drive a Gallardo with a Fiat budget



By the way my new car has 6600 miles and still have 76% clutch

 

Am I the only one who looks at a 997TT to very early model G as a downgrade???

If I were back in the market I would get a nice 997TT over an 04-05 G without thinking twice. Cool car nonetheless

 

It depends of what you like...

I never really like the 997TT... It looks very simple, sounds like a blender (even if you change the exhaust... BUT that is just me... In the real life the 997TT is a classic looking car and faster than the 04-05 Gallardo... But the Gallardo handle better, sounds better, more attitude ....

I could say that my Z06 was faster than my 997TT before i make some modifications... 2007 Z06 $44,000 vs 2007 Porsche 997TT $75,000

Triblk6speed had one of the nicest and faster 997TT in the forum and sold his car to buy a 04 Gallardo... And he is loving it....

 

I own both ( 2008 G Spyder and 2008 997TT Cab), they're completely different cars. I love both of them for different reasons.

 

Can you tell me more about it? Please!

 

+1. I was in the market for a G until I bought my TT. I was only looking at 06+ cars, and just couldn't find a G with the miles/condition I wanted for the right price. I wasn't even including 04-05s in the search.

As far as buying an exotic car that doesn't look dated though, there is nothing better than the early Gallardos for the money, IMO. I just don't care enough about the cool looks to overlook the other shortfalls.

 

I personally feel that replacing a clutch that often is absolutely absurd.........I have a Z06 and a clutch installed would be $1300 and I would expect it to last 100000 miles.......
