Replacing the F430 (Lamborghini Mustang)

Feeling the itch for something different, and looking to explore a new car/experience after life with the Ferrari F430

Was hoping for some feedback from FChat given I have been here for ages now. Originally I was on the lookout for a 2012 Aventador, but with a max budget of 320, I dont see anything my price range. For some ODD reason they seem to be selling close to their original MSRP of 450.

My Criteria: I am probably missing a few, but this is what I look for
1) Driving Experience
2) Road Presence
3) Value Retention
4) Character and Personality
5) Unique (YouTube perspective)

--------------------------------------------------
Options:
1) McLaren 650 - 320K. It is certainly a great car, prone to electronic issues but for me the biggest issue is price. I certainly dont think its 100K better than the 12c and has the same degree of road presence

2) Lamborghini Huracan Great performance, great road presence, new and unique. This seems to be well valued and definitely a great package. For example, 458s are MORE expensive than the Huracan.

3) McLaren 12c - 220-240. Good price point, but the issue is I am uncertain with how this will act in the market. With cars like 570 and 540 it is hard to predict. The styling looks dated, and I dont think has any greater road presence than my F430.

4) Ferrari 458 280-350. Too old in my opinion, way overdone and I think it has lost is appeal to me. I prefer the F430 over a 458. Sorry

5) Aston Vantage V12 - I think a 3 pedal manual will certainly go up in value and I love astons. But I just dont think it has the same road presence or up to par performance wise as the other options.

Care to opine?

Great options there.

I think you will love the Huracan. The new LP580 should have an MSRP in the $230-250k range which helps even more. The 15s seem to have settled in around $230 so you can have RWD or AWD at that price point.

I agree with scratching the 458. Doesn't hold up to the other 2. The McLaren is compelling and you wouldn't be paying $320k for it. There are good incentives on the 15s and lots of bonus carbon options on the 16s. Pre-owned values are close to what you see for Huracans so you can really choose which car you like best.

The McLaren is brilliant to drive. The technology is so-so but they are both great options. Can't go wrong with either.

The appreciation logic is right on with the 10-12 manual V12 Vantage. Completely different driving experience.

Good luck!

I made a really fair offer on a Huracan 5% below the dealers ask but they turned it down (consignment). It was a great spec but not my ideal colors and trim.

Given I expect huracan prices to drop further with the RWD/AWD and Spider variants, I was hoping I could find a Aventador 2012 for around the same price.

I also think the only way to move forward from an F430 would be towards a Huracan or Aventador. With all the various models mclaren has been pumping out, resale values dont going nowhere but south fast. Not a fan of 458 either and by now has lost majority if any of its appeal to me from years past.

If you haven't done the lamborghini experience yet - jump in you wont regret it.

I agree, nothing else gets me excited. The 12cs just seem to have the same amount of road presence as a f430. Sure its probably 60% greater from a performance standpoint but road presence also must factor in.

Ill probably spend a couple weeks observing how the huracan prices move. I cant act now because the f430 is going through a repair.

Who knows, if the Aventador comes in at my price point I will move quick. I just dont want to get an Huracan and see my money vanish. I think 2012 aventadors should hold value fairly well. Esp on the lower end of the scale around a 650c price tag.

Maybe not, in the US the delta between 650s and Aventador is about 60k USD. So considering canada, probably around the 400k CAD mark.

Lets see.

just looked at an LP 580-2, that may be my next car. With options around 235K, not bad when compared to the LP 610-4. Check them out.

To me the Huracan did not have the proper driving experience unless it's a DD, it was fast but didn't feel sporty enough.
I just drove a 488 and WOW what a difference over a 458 but then you play the waiting game at the 320k mark.

What about a TT Gallardo or SL? My 11 year old Lambo still gets 2 to 3 times the pictures my brand new Ferrari gets.
