Inside a decent area of Manhattan I think a 1BR 550 sq ft would run in the mid 3's.

Cheapest way is live in Brooklyn and take the subway in. That's what most people do.

The thing is location in NY with regards to Manhattan. I can be on Wall St. with no traffic in 17 minutes. This place is about an hour away.
NJ property taxes are nuts.

Brooklyn is not that cheap either, at least where someone would want to live.

You can rent a 1BR in BK in a decent area for about $1,300/month. I think it's dirt cheap.

Yeah, but you have to remember this is New York. Not that much land. This is a relatively large lot for Queens. It is possible that in order to have such a driveway only a two car garage would do because of the zoning laws.
Interesting side note; the house was built by Edgardo Alfonso , former New York Met.

Dude, mid 3's refers to the monthly rent, not the price...LOL

The 1BR apt in Manhattan would be over 1M to buy.

Not sure. What sort of comments? I did 1,000 miles in the first month and it's a fast, fun, beautiful car to drive and own. Little quirks here and there but such is the nature of the beast.
