So I need some Gallardo help!!!

I am seriously interested in buying a Gallardo, I just really know nothing about them! I had a few questions as I knew some people on here have them or have had them.

1. Is an 04 really a scary car to buy? How much difference is there between 04's and 05's?

2. I know some people were worried about the E-Gear in the 04's as well as the clutch replacement issue with the E-Gears. Does the same go for the 6 speed manual? I would be more interested in a manual anyways, I just didnt know if they had some issues as well in 04-05?

3. What is a decent price for a low mileage 05 6 speed, and where can I find one!

4. Any good Lambo forums beside this one, or perhaps stores which sell goodies for Lamborghinis?

5. Is 19, 20 " Wheels the best combo for these cars? Large lips dont seem to be possible on the rear. Am I wrong?

Thank you!!!!!

to be honest, the major difference is between the 04/05 and 06 models. If you can, I would go with an 06. It has more HP [ which is always a good thing ]

as far as forums, the major lamborghini forum is lambopower.com

hope this helps

Clutch replacement is a bit pricey, a couple of the guys said it was around $10k, and its more common on the e-gear. The 06 and newer had more power, so thats a plus.

Best places to go, in my opinion: Prestige Motorcars, Lambo Las Vegas, Lambo Chicago(ask for Bill Jr) Lambo OC (ask for Armen) and Lambo Long Island

And for wheels, 19 front 20 rear is going to be the best setup, I did one for a Gallardo SE and it was awesome. You can get a large lip in the back, but depending on the brand, you might need to have them do a custom offset to get it.

A clutch replacement is around 4k, but you shouldn't have to do one if you get a late 05 or 06. I have a 06 SE speed. It has been very reliable, the build quality, fit and finish has been outstanding. Prestige is not a good go to place! I have heard good things about LOC and the service/parts dep't is first class.

Good catch Bernard! I meant Premier Motorcars, not Prestige. Prestige I DONT recommend.

If you are getting an exhaust, do the Lambo OC exhaust for the G, or take it to Heffner. Another area Bernard can testify to!

How often do the clutches have to be replaced at 4k a pop?

The 06 sintered clutch is bullet proof. I have done at least 40 power launches(10 or 15 with the blowers on!) and no problems at 7k miles. At 5500 miles, Heffner inspected the clutch and it was in perfect condition. On a stock G, the clutch should last at least 20k miles. I know of one 04 G that has 30k miles on the original, weaker clutch.

I would sway you to an 06. It had alot of things that made it a deciding factor when I got mine. Also, don't worry much about the mileage being low as these cars actually perform better when driven and you do not want a 2-3 year old car that has 2,000 miles on it. I'm not saying to go for 20,000 miles but a nice 5K-13K car will be just right for the age. People pay wayyy too much attention to the miles for no reason at all. At the end of the day you wanna drive your car as much as possible. I would be more concerned in getting a car that is properly cared for mechanically and cosmetically than one with +/- 3K miles on it. You'll love it, it's alot of fun.

I love the honesty.

If you want a nice used one people can vouch for, Allan's car is awesome, and very well cared for.

I am still very early in the process for the purchase of this car, I am just trying to see where the car stands. As much as I have read, and nothing negative, is extremely swaying my decision! I would definetely want a 6 speed, so I think if I were to get one, it would be a Classic colored 05 or 06 6 speed. I am really falling for the white G's, and there is a decent miled 05 6 speed on eBay right now.

On the other hand, I am going to hold out on the purchase of one until October to see the unveiled LF-A pictures. I am the first on the list at my Lexus Dealership, and we are supposedly only going to get 1 a year. If it is unveiled and looks promising, I will purchase it.

I really appreciate all the help, if it's not the LF-A, you guys can thank yourselves for the purchase of my 6 speed Gallardo~!!!!
