Macan GTS....What are the Chances that..

Assuming this thing is sucessful, which i'm sure it will be, i would bet Porsche will release a GTS version of the Macan within 2 years or so.

What are the chances they will release the GTS with an available 6/7 speed manual gearbox? That would be a no brainer for me! Thoughts?

If the GT3 doesn't have a manual.....I'd say ZERO chance it comes with a manual.

As for a GTS version, that, in my mind, is almost a lock.

Skeptical there will be a manual. Ever. Somewhere there's a Walter Rohrl quote that when he's lapping he just lets the PDK do the work. Doesn't touch the paddles. If it's good enough for him, I'm guessing Porsche will (or has) come to the conclusion that it's good enough for the target audience for the Macan. They'll tell you to buy a sports car (for now) if you want a manual.

GTS, yes, matter of timing solely.

M/T is almost dead, with PDK making its way on Porsche SUV line, I say zero possibilities.
Im not sure if you still can get a manual Cayenne in America but we no longer can.

In a perfect world, they'll release a RWD with a 7 speed MT Macan. But let's be real, it'll never happen.
I am looking forward to a GTS model in about 3 years, I hope they go the same route they did with the cayenne.

No manual Cayenne GTS in Canada FWIW.

It's only a matter of time. The interesting bit will be what engine they throw in there and if it will be N/A.

I predict that there will be a turbo as well. We are witnessing the death of normal aspirated engines, a thing of the past...

For most manufacturers, I agree. However, Porsche isn't giving up yet. With the great output we are seeing from the 991, and the new GT3 in particular, it's entirely possible that they could put an NA V6 into the GTS and get the ~375hp needed to slot it perfectly between the S and the turbo.

The problem is not the horse power, is the torque: you need to beat the 339 lb.-ft. on the Macan S. In addition, keep in mind an SUV needs more torque than a lighter sports car like the 911. So here are the numbers:

911 Carrera = 287 lb.-ft.
911 Carrera S = 325 lb.-ft
911 GT3 = 325 lb.-ft.

So none of them meet the torque requirements, not to mention the fact that these horizontally opposed engines are a lot more expensive to build thus even if they get both horse power and torque where it needs to be around 375, I claim the cost will become prohibitive. Ergo turbo it is!

Good point on the torque. They'd need to go to something like 4.0L to get decent torque, and I doubt they'd want to support yet another engine in the lineup, especially for a relatively low volume model.

Exactly. They'll just end up tuning the 3.0l for an extra 15-20 hp. Look at the cayenne gts and upcoming boxster and cayman gts models... An extra 15-20 hp.

Keep in mind, the same engine from Macan S makes 420 hp in Panny S, they could easily tune it for another 20 hp.

Nope, Macan Turbo is a larger 3.6 l. It is the same 3.0 from Panny S but detuned.
