Unhappy with Macan Bose stereo - anyone upgrade speakers / amp?

We have a 2021 Macan S with Bose and are unhappy with crispness of the sound. Specifically the base and treble. Unfortunately there are very few settings for this. A digital EQ would have been nice.

Has anyone upgraded your speakers and/or amp in a Bose unit successfully? Would love to hear about it if so.

Thanks much!

Adam

Just finished phase 1 of my upgrade: replaced front door speakers (gladen slim 8” woofers, vintage MBQuart 4” mids) and installed a Helix VTwelve dsp/amp, and a Gladen Pro Subwoofer with a JLAudio XD amp. Did basic sound proofing to the door, as I only had roadkill at hand. Twitter are oem.
I did all the install myself, built a quadlock extension to get with speaker level input to the amp (my car has base audio), fabricated the speaker adaptor and the amp rack.
The improvements are significant, better staging, detail retrieval and I have full control of everything. Overall, good upgrade. Used Oem rear speakers for differential rear fill, hence the poor speaker quality is not an issue.
I am waiting for the gladen aerospace tweeters and Pro line mid for the next stage. And I will fully treat the doors.
I will start fine tuning Time, Gain and EQ with the final gear installed and burned in. It is a lengthy process. The RTA of the Helix is ok for a ball park estimate, but fine tuning required more precision, I use REW with a calibrated mic.
If you have Bose/Burm system, I strongly recommend you to go digital (no hi-level). For that you will need a MOST150 decoder. NavTV is the only one I know. I have a BMW M5 with H/K which uses MOST25, far more common and cheaper to integrate, and used the smd25 (Inthink…) from Helix. Pristine full flat sound to start working on. With hi level I had to de-eq to get it flat, and there is no signal below 50Hz.
hope it helps

Swapped my 2015 tweeters and center speaker over all to the Burnmeister ones.
