2004 Maserati Coupe GT
I'm contemplating whether or not to buy a used Coupe but the deals on them now are just too sweet. I've been finding many of these for about $30k with 15k miles on them and in great condition. Would you guys consider this a smart buy? are these cars problem cars? thanks

Show me a link of the car for 30k

i wouldn't touch a maserati out of warranty. you could get lucky and not have significant problems, but the odds are really really against you. i've owned a gransport and QP - loved the cars but again, NFW out of warranty... GL.

30k? Granted I don't have experience with maseratis, but I'd be wary of a car of that calibre for $30k. Most of all, I'd be worried about cost of ownership. True, 30k might not be bad, but it's keeping it that would probably kill me.

Do a CarFax seach on the vehicle, do as much of a history search on the vehicle as you can. Check the dealer out through the Better Business Bureau. But like any car if you maintain it according to the owners manual, you should by OK. I know I love mine.

I ran one for 14k miles (GT, manual) and while I was petrified of it, it actually never broke on me at all. It was flawless and I ran the **** out of it, even tracked it. The big problem on the coupes is the cambiocorsa trans, and when you go manual you eliminate that. The manual isn't very good though, and when something does go wrong it's gonna be expensive.
High 30s is not out of the question, these things depreciate like a brick. The Gransports hold their value far better.

Just keep in mind that it has near-supercar maintenance / repair expenses. It is cheap to buy, but not cheap to run. Keep a cash cushion and don't treat it like the family station wagon and you'll be fine. That motor is without question the sweetest I've seen in any car ever.

I love the Maserati stuff but for 30K, I'd rather buy a new G37.
Not the sweet engine and build quality of a Maserati but ne headaches either. The G37 does have ample power and a good look that can easily be enhanced. Just one mans opinion.
Now, if I just really wanted the Maser and have unlimited funds for repair and maintenance...........naw, I still wouldn't do it. If we're talking about the new Maser GT Coupe with it near supercar looks, yeah.

I have seen quite a few used ones in the 30k-40K range, if i remember correctly they were in the 70K range when new but many were selling under sticker. I have not heard of them having any major mechanical problems just little things. but it may be a good idea to get an extended warranty on one if you do get one.
personally I am not a big fan of the car, the car was built to go after the 911 and XKR buyer, and thats all it ever did... chase after them. the 911 is a much better performing car even with less horse power. and the XKR is a much better grand touring car.
