Info on the best sport mufflers for Gran Turismo 4.2...

I'd like to change my rear mufflers on my '09 Gran Turismo 4.2 to a more aggressive sport muffler. I'm aware that Fabspeed produces a sport cat system with a new center section...but with their system...the rear mufflers remain stock. My goal is to just change the rear mufflers...and leave the rest of the exhaust system stock. Any suggestions on which rear mufflers offer the best sound...without producing a tiring resonance inside the vehicle at highway cruising speeds. Finally price concerns...$2,500 to $3,500 for a set of mufflers seem rather pricey...any deals out there? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Randy

Try Jeff at formula Dynamics. He carries a few different brands. I have the Larini boxes as about $2200 if I remember correctly. I think you already have an X pipe. Tubi's are more money. I looked at used for what i got the new Larini's. Love the sound and not to loud for cruising on the highway.
The Larini's had the high pitched Ferrari sound I was looking for.

Hi Randy,

RSC Tuning has a great set of rear boxes which also feature the 'S' style tips for a nice visual upgrade. Great quality of sound and not so loud as to be uncomfortable. In stock in our Miami location - PM me for more info.

We recently installed the Fabspeed high-flow cat and center section on a GranTurismo S along with EVOMSit software. (See link below)

The difference is sound was amazing, as well as the power gains. Bang for the buck, I think this is truly the best option. Changing the rear mufflers alone will yield some very minimal power gains and change the sound slightly, but to get that really aggressive tone and a bit more power, I'd go with the Fabspeed setup, eliminating the most restrictive parts of the OEM system. You'll also save well over $1000 going this route.

Let me know if you're interested, I'll work out a good deal for you.

Tom...thanks for your info...I've use Fabspeed before...they make a high quality product. But for my circumstances...I'm just looking to change the rear mufflers. I'm not a fast driver (old guy!!)...thus horsepower gains are not a big priority. I rotate my vehicles frequently...so I'm trying to retain most of the stock exhaust. Any other ideas....

With best regards,
Randy

Well, for rear mufflers I'd say Tubi. Quality, fitment, and sound will be unbeatable. However, the Tubi product does carry a bit of a heavier pricetag. I can certainly work with you on the price....PM me if you're interested.

On second thought, we also carry the Cargraphic rear muffler system for your car. I think this may work perfectly for you!

I want to thank everyone who has contacted me with information regarding their sport muffler systems for the Gran Turismo. Obviously there are several great products available...now I just have to make a final decision. After I've purchased and installed my new system...I will certainly post the pictures and video of the final results on this forum!

With best regards,
Randy

Anyone else on here try the RSC setup? What are your thoughts? Tone sounds a bit low from the vid, but that may just be the sound quality.

If someone can post a video or sound of the takeoff and driveby that would be awesome

I'll be making my decision soon....all the vendors have been very informative. I'm trying to balance price...sound quality... and workmanship. When I make my final choice...I'll post sound clips and installation info on the forum. In the end ...it will be a personal choice...once again...I'm sure most of the system will work great. Stay tuned...

With best regards,
Randy

P.S. I'll buy beer & pizza if anyone wants to fly-in and help with installation!
