Mass Airflow Sensor--Warranty?

Opinions please:

I am at the end of the 48 months period and brought my car in for some warranty work unrelated to the MAS. When I picked up the car, on the way home the CEL ABS PSM lights came on and I called the dealer that afternoon to tell them of the problems. I bring the car back they tell me the MAS needs replacement, and since that on the day I picked up the car it is no longer under warranty they will not cover it. They did offer to cover 75% of the cost as "good will".

It seems to me that if I bring the car in under the warranty period, when I pick up the car it should be operational. If not, they should take care of it at their cost. Is my expectation too high?

I think I agree with you there but one way or another when you get a new MAF... ask them to use the new style updated one (from the Boxster).

What warranty work did you have done? Is there anything they did that might have caused the CEL? Like change the air filter? In any case they should cover it as warranty IMO!

The only work that came near the engine was they replaced the Pressure Plate, T.O. Bearings , clutch shaft cover, needle bearing, antifreeze, ORMD-Pentosin fluid and other related parts of the clutch assembly. These were covered under warranty. I have been a customer for several years and never have a problem with this dealer and I am rather disappointed by their response.
I expected the response of "Sorry for the inconvenience that you have to bring the car back so soon. I am not sure what happened but let us take care of the problem." Yeah, right!
