We are considering picking up an E-Class at some point this year. I've been doing some research and it seems that the new model will be out as soon as this time next year, is that right?

Any ideas about what the major differences will be (interior;engine choices) etc?

 

You knows whats funny, the fact that I work at a MB dealer, and no one really knows anything about the new E. It should have the same lines as the S-Class and the interior will probably have the same command unit that is in the S and the new C. Engines should be the same as they are now, maybe a bump in hp in the E350.

 

I have heard that MB is working with Apple to design the new infotainment aspects of the 2009 E; that alone would be worth the wait should it be true. I've also read that the transmission will be based on the side shift (similar to the ML... not sure I'm sold on that) and that the new E will adopt the distronic and night vision capabilities of the current S-Class. I can't wait for some good detail on the engine choices (especially Diesel configs) and some real pics of the new interior!!!

 

It is true about the Apple stuff....all the MB's will have that within the next few years.

I believe that trans is staying the same because in Europe you can get the car in a manual. I also believe that those options such as distronic and night vision will be available someday soon in all of them.

as with most MB's in their first year, they are plagued with problems however the new S class has a clean slate.

 

Well I am not sure about it but I guess the new E-class will be out at the end of 2010 and I do hope AMG gives the 6.2L some Twin Turbo's otherwise it will be out of the horsepower war.

 

Mercedes should consider the AMG 65 engine in the new E class instead of the current AMG 63 to compete with the RS6 580 HP's and the new power house with turbos in the M5. see the link

let's hope the new E class will be more aggressive and stately like the S class.

w211 is worse than w210 in terms of looks. w210 is a classic and w210 just has soft lines. same is true for 1st & 2nd gen CLK.

 

Ya still can't tell if its going to be hot or not.
