2003 SL 500 any problems

This is intressting as I my be intressed in a SL500 in the near future. Somebody said you should stay away from 2003 models, is that correct?
Many of you also said(I have search alot) you would buy the SL55 and not the SL500, I'm would just be using it for some summer cruising... my problem is that if I buy a SL55 I will start to tune it and never be satisfied
