I want to get a used Mercedes - budget around $30k.

I really would like to get an AMG model - I know that the 2004 or so E55 will fit into my budget, and it's fantastic. I think I can also fit in an S55, but I honestly like the E55's design a bit better since it is still current.

Any thoughts? What's the best in both looks and performance that I can get for 30k?

Wow has the E55 really come down that much? Thats a great price for the performance wise.

 

Yeah, I have not found any other car that really beats it at that price for performance/luxury. The only problem is that looks wise most people can't tell it apart from a normal e-class, and there are hundreds of those on the streets. But man, is it fast!

They have come down so much. You are getting so much car for the buck.

 

Yeah, pretty much I can't think of anything better for the price in terms of performance.

Did they ever make E55's with the panoramic roof?

 

I'm looking for a cl600--total sleeper.

 

I can't find a 2003-04 SL55 for anywhere under 45k bucks with under 35,000 miles. Still, that is a hell of a deal considering the car was 120,000 new. I would be pissed if I bought these cars new and lost my *** like that.

CL600's are badass also, but so is the maintenance

 

The older bodies CL are a bit funny to me, the front and back are nice but the sides seem a bit outdated.

SL55 is definitely more expensive - it's a nice ride. The E55, although not a shocker looks wise, is definitely classy+performance.

 

I thought the 023 e55's were low 30's.

That would be my choice...all that HP. Why MB and what do you drive now?

 

older S600 and CL600 are pretty close to that.

 

E55 for sure... it's an awesome car and the best looking of the sedan AMG cars imo
