CF airboxes on C63 - more show or go?

On a C63, ss there much of a noticeable performance gain to be gained by carbon fiber airboxes? Or is the benefit largely cosmetic?

Definatley more show than go, but it seems it is a good compliment to other mods such as ECU/headers. Although simply changing the air filters and removing charcoal filters would probably net close to the same gains. Regardless, I ordered one anyway.

suppose the CF airbox has larger volume and better angle at tubing for better flow. It should add performance somehow. For the price, it definitely more money for show than go. But if I have a C63, I will have one too!

I've sold and installed several without any complaints. They are not cheap, however if you prefer a set of BMC filters, let me know I have them in stock ready to ship.

I run the CF airbox on my very heavily modded Black Series.

I have heard from some friends in the tuning industry that the CF airboxes are not good. They are for show. The carbon on the inside has a rough finish. Power is all about clean airflow and by adding this rough surface it disturbs the airflow, thus hurting power. You can take a Evosport airbox and cover it with the carbon for the look and you will get the power. If you have worked with carbon before one would know that to get the shiny clear coated side you need a rough side, unfortunately thats the inside. Looks badass though!!

Some of what you are saying is correct, my car is at Evosport as we speak and they are doing extensive testing on my cf airbox. Stock airbox and a new design airbox they obtained...look for me or Evosport to post some findings in the near future. My post will be un-biased, I only put the best performing products on my vehicles, bottom line if its on my car its the best product currently available...stay tuned.
