Is the C63 the best luxury/performance car bargain?
Is the C63 the best luxury/performance car bargain?
I have never driven or even been in a C63, but just based upon my research I can get a low mileage 2009 for low 50's and flash her and have a great DD with lots of pep and comfort.
Is there a catch...please discuss.
I am thinking of picking up a C63 in the future (will probably trade my Porsche cayenne TT in and give my E350 to my wife)

There's this rubberized leather looking material everywhere. That's unacceptable in near $70k car as this same type of material can be found in $15k Chevy's. Here are some pics. So to answer your question, no you can't upgrade the interior. You're stuck with it unless of course you want to spend a grip to wrap it in leather/suede.

A friend of mine got the entire interior redone in alcantara. Did the upper/lower dash, headliner, doors, seat inserts, etc.. for around $10,000. Looks amazing now.

The new 2010 may have the designo package available to the US shortly. It is a leather wrapped dash. I have had alot of nice cars and I love my C63. I love it so much I am going to get the newer 2010 w/ keyless go and new found WHP in the Performance Package. I can live with the plastic dash regardless even though it was one of my dislikes. It is one of the greatest cars I have ever owned. And as for the flash comment the new PP will provide 30 more whp stock
If you were local or want to make a trip you can drive my car for a day. As for older 09's, cant go wrong there either. Spend the savings on the flash and wrap the dash. evosport seems to have some really nice mods for the C63.

I just ran across a white C63 with a Renntech badge on it on I-10 west. It seemed to be pretty quick up to about 90 mph right before I put about 20 car lengths on it....
Seriously, it seems like a very nice car. Quick for what it is, but far from fast. It reminds me of my IS-F.

Now that wrap is a delightful transformation. I'm impressed, but $10 large for one? Damn I don't even know if it's worth it. $10 grand in mods can do wonders on that car. If you can live with the interior, the car is the perfect DD. Those new AMG motors are monsters!
Hahhahahaha nice John! I just can't seem to stay out of controversy around here can I? Hmmmmmm, Hennessey CTS-V as a daily? Sounds yummy!

p.s. I do think that the C63 is a bada$$ car for the money

The C63 is very nice, yes the dash is a bit bland, but as picky as I am, I could care less, I would cover it, but be observant of the built in airbag. $10k for an Alcantara interior is about right for an extremely mint job with a lot of attention to detail... and on a side note, don't most caddy owners strive to be MB owners? CTS-V is nice but still Domestic
The interior is the only reason I did not pull the trigger on one
so tempting but for 70k its unacceptable unless you are buying a muscle car....
I almost feel like im buying a Mustang when I sat inside of it.

yeah, OK... A Mustang? I am sorry but there isn't enough plastic or rattles to justify a Mustang... When the C first came out, I was in an all black interior, the first thing I though was M3, as it is like what BMW does to the dash. The 2 toned interior on a C looks much nicer. Mustang.. paleeze
