Want an SL - what to buy?

Newbie here. I had the opportunity to drive an SL55 across the country, and now want to buy some form of SL. I see relatively low-mile SL600's for cheap (under 50K). I assume its the ongoing maintenance costs that drive the price down. Long story short - given $75K, where would you spend it on an SL? I wouldn't want a car with more than about 30,000 miles... Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

ducati - did you by chance drive an SL65 to FL?

You can get into an 05-06 SL65 for that money...

65 and 55 are great.....

given the $$ you want to spend, I'd buy an 07/08 55. You can buy plenty of car for those $$, and there is still plenty of warranty remaining. You don't want to fix one of these cars on your own nickel.

The SL55 is a good bang-for-the-buck value. I saw an '06 SL65 listed here locally for $175K - that seemed really high. The car has 2400 miles. Is that a ridiculous price?

Past ridiculous. Must be a mis-print....

should be around $75k, and I think that's still pretty high, unless there is lots of warranty left.
I'm still looking for another 55, if you guys see something that might work, I would appreciate it. Must be in warranty, probably 07, would prefer no 040 exterior, but will listen. Thanks...

SL65 if you can swing it, but between the AMG 55K and the 600, I'd take the 600 anytime.

I would go for a sl65 or get a sl55 for around $45000 and use the rest of the money for mods.

Get a well equipped 55 for about 35-40K and invest in a Kleeman stage 2 and you will be golden! while the 65 and the 600s are great cars, something about the 55K's extra kick is well worth it IMO. Also ask how are you using this weekend? daily? then matching you up with the right engine will be easier

I personally am not a huge fan of the SL600 - the engine is great of course, but it's missing all the great parts that make an AMG an AMG - brakes, suspension, and all the cosmetics, wheels, front/rear bumper, etc.

You have a point, the SL600 is for someone who wants a sleeper, SL65 is for someone who wants power absolute and SL55 is more of a sporty road kinda guy

Yeah, the 600 is impressive to some folks, but

for those of us who really like to drive, the 55 and 65 are so much more fun. Gotta say again though, I don't think you want to own one of these withoug some kind of warranty....

Best summary right there. All three have more power than youll ever need, so its up to exterior/personal options.

Here is a good looking SL55 with a warranty and some tasteful mods
